I bought the book as requested by the instructor. The book itself is good. But there are no answers for the questions in the book because it is a book for instructors' use. For me, my instructor only used a few cases in the book (less than 10) and I won't get the answers for the remaining cases. It is true that the CD is very helpful. But as a student, I want to use the whole book and study all the cases since I paid for the entire book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent case studies book January 26, 2010
This case studies book is an excellent supplement to basic pathophysiology textbooks for learning the subject of pathophysiology. The book is not intended to stand alone unless the student has some background in pathophysiology, but used while taking a pathophysiology course, it has significant merit. It helped me to understand, from a basic science perspective, why sick patients develop the symptoms that they do when they have particular diseases. I found the case studies on heart failure, breast cancer, lung cancer and diabetes especially helpful as I have family members with this disease. The book really helped me to connect the dots between basic science and the clinical manifestations of disease. I found the CD very helpful in helping me to understand the pathophysiology of disease. I highly recommend this case studies book for anyone who is currently enrolled in a pathophysiology or pathology course or just wants to review pathophysiology.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed... August 2, 2010
By buffi

I just started teaching a Pathophysiology course & was looking for case studies for the students. These case studies are current, concise, & reasonable for the students; each one provides enough information to get them started without 'leading' the student. I watch the students as their critical thinking skills start to spark...You know, the 'Ahhh, now I get it!" expression that comes over their faces. Well worth the investment. Thanks~~~

4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful August 5, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This is a nice compliment to other classroom instruction materials. I am teaching an advanced pathophysiology course in a nurse practitioner program. This book is very helpful for students to put together the concepts of patho with the clinical setting. Will use these for in-class group assignments. Case-studies are thorough and offer a variety of different disease processes to choose from. It certainly does not offer a case study for every possible disease or clinical scenario, but does cover most major areas and enough variety in my opinion. Should be helpful in reinforcing the clinical significance of some difficult to understand concepts. I would recommend this text to course instructors.

3.0 out of 5 stars Book May 20, 2014

Book was not in the same shape that the seller had listed it as. Beat up, torn, and writing in the book. Will work for my purpose but did not like that it was in worse shape than listed

4.0 out of 5 stars good but needs a companion pathophysiology book. March 10, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Succinct. Easy to read. Needed for a class for Masters program. Does need an accompanied pathophysiology book because this just presents scenarios and not the reasons why patient has this disease.
