This book offers clinical critiques of actual cases using a teaching format which defines each case presented with the type of therapy theory employed by the therapist. My personal favorite is chapter 8, "Fat Lady" by Irvin D. Yalom. It is existentialism at its brutally honest best, and shows clearly the human side of the therapist's countertransference and growth through that countertransference. I found this book to be quite an asset for understanding the practical differences between the various counseling theories. It greatly compliments and illustrates the theories in a very readable context.

I was advised by a friend that I should purchase this text. I have no regrets in doing so and the book is quite helpful to me for reviewing similar cases that come to me in my private practice.

I got it just in time to study for my clinical psych exam :) I didn't read all the cases but it's definitely a great read. :)

Very disapponted by the vendor, i odered the ninth edition, i received the sixth edtion. I wish I could return it.
