See disorders in real life with CASEBOOK IN ABNORMAL PSYCHOLOGY! Using authentic cases that illustrate every major DSM-IV category, this psychology text portrays the nature of disorders as they manifest in real people. Each case is followed by a therapy outcome section which gives you the rest of the story of what happened to the client. Two complex cases are included without a diagnosis to give you an opportunity to come up with diagnoses on your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Money, February 9, 2007
This review is from: Casebook in Abnormal Psychology (Paperback)
The case studies selected for use in this book are very interesting and serve as excellent examples for various mental health diagnoses. Up-to-date, cutting edge treatment modalities for each specific disorder are also discussed in the chapters. It is an excellent resource.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very descriptive, aides in understanding of disorders, November 4, 2006

This review is from: Casebook in Abnormal Psychology (Paperback)
This book is very readable, and gives case examples of several different mental disorders with a discussion at the end of each case. It enables the reader to understand aspects of a disorder that he or she might not glean from reading only textbooks. It is an excellent companion to textbooks on abnormal psych or psychopathology. My biggest complaint is the pricetag for such a small book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cases in psychopathology, March 4, 2009
This review is from: Casebook in Abnormal Psychology (Paperback)
I am a Psychology major at a private four year college and I think this book is great. This book brings real cases for the main psychological disoders such as: GAD, PDA, OCD and schizophrenia (just to name a few). David H. Barlow is a world renowned psychologist and professor of psychology and psychiatry and director of the center for anxiety disorders at Boston University. For each case, the authors include: clinical history, DSM-Iv-TR diagnosis, case formulation using the integrative model, treatment goals and planning, and course of treatment and treatment planning. This book is essential for recognazing symptoms for each disorder and for aquiring skills such as diagnosis. I feel this book is important to undetrtanding the implications of psychological disorders, since it brings each disorder to life.
