Book Description

0314146385 978-0314146380 January 5, 2006 4
The lore of the sea draws people from land to the oceans for work and play, and the law of the sea draws litigants to courts for the trial of maritime cases. This book will be familiar to users of prior editions. The Fourth Edition calls upon law students to recall the ordinary law and procedure of federal and state courts, to learn exotic maritime law and procedure for events on salt and fresh waters, and in a broad range of maritime shipping contexts, to adjust conflicts of state laws and state courts with federal laws and courts, and conflicts of national law with international law. The 2002 Documents Supplement remains a useful supplement to the Fourth Edition.

This review is from: Cases on Admiralty, 4th ed. (American Casebook Series) (Hardcover)
In three years of law school, I've read all the unreadable casebooks. They are all terrible. The Dukeminier ones are the worst. Well, until now!

When reading something in the law makes you feel stupid, it isn't you. Whatever you're reading is badly written. And so with this book.

Admiralty law is quirky and interesting, but this casebook needs to walk the plank. It does of lousy job of explaining just about every facit of this subject - thank god it's not a book on pharmacy, or surgery! I even told the teacher I couldn't read it. Worse - there's no supplement! If this is the book for your admiralty class - beware! and Take Care Bela Lugosi.

Here's what you do - buy the hornbook from Westlaw. That will give you the overview of the doctrine.
