Editorial Reviews

May we also load the following description, taken from the sell sheet:
19 Recordings/BNA Records artist Casey James first emerged on the national scene with his third-place run on Season 9 of American Idol, but Casey had already been making music for more than a decade when he took his mom's advice to try out for the hit series. A native of Cool, Tx, James grew up surrounded by music; both his parents played guitar and sang, as did other family members, and Casey was playing guitar and performing throughout his young adulthood. His wide-ranging influences include artists such as Merle Haggard, Vince Gill, ZZ Top, and Bonnie Raitt, with a mix of '70s rock, blues, and outlaw country all helping to shape his style. Following his success on Idol, Casey set his sights on Nashville, touring with Sugarland in 2011 and playing his own shows while working on his upcoming debut album, Casey James.

Casey is currently giving fans a taste of what to expect on the album with the bluesy, goodtime feel of the first single, "Let's Don't Call it A Night," co-written with Terry McBride and Brice Long.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth The Wait! March 20, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Casey James has finally released his self-titled debut album in 2012. He came third in American Idol season 9 contest (Jan - May 2010), Lee DeWyze (the winner) & Crystal Bowersox (first runner-up) have both released their debut albums in 2011. I must confess that though Casey James came third, he was my favourite contestant (great voice, wonderful guitar playing, great down-to-earth personality & good looks of a star). I was glad he got signed by Sony Music Nashville and toured with Sugarland in 2011. The CD was initialy scheduled for release in 2011 but well it's now finaly here. I was quite nervous listening to his debut album as he may have 'lost' in the American Idol contest due to 'his inconsistency' but relax he delivers consistently very well some wonderful country rock music in this great debut album : great voice, wonderful guitars & production. This is very close to the music that I thought he would do considering his major influences being rock & country music. The CD (11 tracks) is worth the wait with stand-outs/gems/solid tracks including "Love The Way You Miss Me", "Undone" & "Miss Your Fire". The remaining (8) tracks are all great tracks including notably "The Good Life" (wonderful guitar sound), "Let's Don't Call It A Night" (the first single, great choice), "Drive" & "So Sweet" with no real weak track to talk of. He really gets rocking on "Tough Love" & "Workin' On It".

On overall, Casey James has released a great debut album to build-up his fan base he developed in 2010 as a contestant in American Idol season 9, in 2011 while touring with Sugarland as well as hopefully new ones with this new CD. A highly recommended CD listening.

Highly recommend this album, it is definitely worth the money. You get blues, country, rock, and soul all wrapped up into one CD. There's rocking songs, love songs and feeling good about life songs. It's refreshing and just what country music needs.

The guitar work on this cd is amazing. Casey is talented, gritty , soulful. He reaches many genres, not strictly country .

5.0 out of 5 stars My Saving Grace March 20, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
If you haven't read it already, this album is truly amazing! From the first Track - The Good Life, to the last Track - Miss Your Fire, you won't be disappointed! This is one of very few albums that I listen to from start to finish, each song has something you can relate to, in some way or another. Whether it be about how well your life is going, or wish it was going - or just being grateful for all the little things in life, to not wanting a great night to end... The feeling of new love, old love, TOUGH LOVE or love being SO SWEET, missing love... it is a very romantic CD. Exactly what I Needed, EXACTLY When I needed it! And then there are the song's "Drive" and "Working on it!" Who DOESN'T like to drive, and who can't relate to working (or feeling like they are working) 365 days a year 24 hours a day 7 days a week to achieve their goal?

The guys will LOVE this CD because of the outrageous display of guitar skills and Casey's involvement in the musical arrangements, especially in "Drive" and when Casey rips in "So Sweet" as well as other songs. Casey's view on love and relationships by his choice of words (co-writer of 9 out of 11 songs) and sincere delivery is a big seller for women. This is a cd that exposes many sides of Casey on a personal level and his vocals just pours out extreme emotions. This CD makes other country albums seem two-dimensional and elementary. My favorite is "Crying on a Suitcase." Although it's a common movie situation, the beat and phrases are unique in the way it's presented and something in which everyone easily connects. Casey's voice is tough in this song and comes off as giving good advice from one dude to another. To fully appreciate this album listen to it on good speakers or headsets to catch the details of this cd and how Casey has the ability to extend his emotions even through his guitar skills. Casey's presentation in real life interviews and on this CD is consistent in showing respect for people, especially women. Unreal CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars woo! March 22, 2012
Format:Audio CD
I had the pleasure of seeing casey james at a private acoustic show in new york and man, the guy is great! He's so down to earth, so talented, so funny, and so real. It's so great to see someone go so far in the industry and still maintain their true character and personality. The fact of the matter is... he's a born country-boy born to play country! Anyway, I'm a huge fan, love the new album, been rocking it straight solid for the past two days!

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing Debut - A Real Talent March 20, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
I remember watching Season 9 and Casey getting voted off and what a disappointment. I had actually forgot about Casey until I heard his first release "Let's Don't Call It A Night" and was like WOW? Here did that guy go for so long. Let me tell you this album is worth the wait. Casey has impressed me not only with his singing, but his song writing and Guitar playing is as skilled as a seasoned veteran. I watched all of the 'sneak' videos that were on YouTube and when the album went on Sale today I snatched it up. I haven't stopped listening and singing along. Catchy songs, bluesy Voice and Guitars and Lyrical Poetry. You can't go wrong with this purchase.
