awesome tunes that had us dancing every night...,

Casey Kasem: America's Top 10 Through Years - The 70's has a great number of classic rock, light rock and still other types of songs that made us dance and tap our feet to the radio during that awesome decade! The quality of the sound is rather good and I like the artwork.
The Guess Who start things out strong with their hit "American Woman." "American Woman" ahs great guitar work and The Guess Who sing and play this straight out of the ballpark! "American Woman" is a strong rock tune that will impress you; I am sure of it. Carly Simon switches gears somewhat with a rock tune that sways a bit more gently as she performs her classic hit entitled "You're So Vain." I remember listening to this hit on the radio endless times and we used to wonder who Carly was referring to when she sang this song. Carly's voice is strong; she never sounded better. The guitars, piano, drums, percussion and more move the musical arrangement along very nicely. Great! There's also Rod Stewart's classic "Maggie May;" Rod sings this with great sensitivity. Foreigner also scores a goal with their rockin' hit "Feels Like The First Time." I love the electric guitars on "Feels Like The First Time!" KC & The Sunshine Band merge rock and disco to produce "That's The Way (I Like It);" this tune has a great beat and it's great music for dancing. Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver" is truly very beautiful and Fleetwood Mac's "Don't Stop" is one of the most positive and uplifting rock ballads I've ever heard! "My Eyes Adored You" from Frankie Valli really slows things down; not only is this great music for a slow dance "My Eyes Adored You" is a masterpiece in Frankie's capable hands! Harry Chapin also turns in a slower type of number with his reflective ballad entitled "Cat's In The Cradle." America's "A Horse With No Name" is excellent `70s rock that still sounds good today; America turns this out strong with some great guitar work, percussion and awesome singing, too. The Spinners end the album with a solid hit, "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love." "Could It Be I'm Falling In Love" has great singing and even the backup vocalists never miss a note. Great! Overall, although no single CD could ever completely capture the flavor of `70s music, this CD comes mighty close to that goal. I highly recommend this CD for people who enjoy solid hits from the `70s; and people exploring great `70s music should consider this album a great place to start.

Tried many times, but this CD could not load on my MacBook. It just kept getting ejected and logs indicated disk1: I/O error. What is more strange is that I purchased another Casey Kasem CD at the same time and it was also getting ejected. Makes me wonder where these were made.
Update: Cleaned my macbook CD drive. Now works.

works well for a decade/theme party,
This review is from: Casey Kasem Presents: America's Top 10 Through Years - The 1970s (Audio CD)
I got this CD because I was DJing a theme party dedicated to the 70s. Like it because it gave me a little something extra to work with, beyond the usually "disco" stuff most people think about. It went over well and I got really great response. Some good songs, most people from this era will know, even if they don't know the name of the song title or artist. Recording quality is ok. Good enough for playing over a loud PA system and probably good enough for the average consumer.

Great song list from the 70s. Bought for my Mom. Recommend for anyone growing up or grown up in the 70s. They will know most or all the songs to sing a long with.

I received the CD but inside was the wrong CD. It didn't match what I ordered and I never got any feedback from seller when I emailed him. I did get my money back but what about the CD???

Flat sounding recordings on CD, in serious need of a remastering.
Some of the songs are so inferior to the others that they must have been selected for PC not quality. Maybe just charts not quality? OK CD if you get it cheap, but don't expect much. |
