More About the Author

James L. Monticone was born in New Jersey and raised in Fairfax, VA. He has been involved with storytelling since childhood, ever since he got his first action figures. His first published work was a comedic short story in his high school's annual publication, and since then he has gone on to study fiction writing in college and have another comedic short story published in an online quarterly. He has also self-published two novels and a host of free stories, poems and essays on his website, www.talesntangents.com.

Mr. Monticone is passionate about character development, existential philosophy, clever wordplay and chronology, among other things. He has delved into other creative endeavors, including, but not limited to, music mashups, video game mods and tabletop roleplaying games. Otherwise he can probably be found sleeping in, taking a long walk in the woods or drinking enough coffee to kill a small horse.

Mr. Monticone has a unique writing style. Just when the reader thinks he has the characters figured out, he'll cleverly throw in a curve ball. He doesn't spare the reader the raw details, yet his stories aren't defined by gore. His stories keep the reader turning pages in anticipation, and are always thought provoking.

The book kept my attention throughout. I was really feeling sorry for the worm at first, but then all that changed as I kept reading. Also the relationship between Sammy and Luther kept me wondering what could possibly happen next given the situation were they were forced to collaborate to bring down a common enemy.
