5.0 out of 5 stars Great Stuff from Eric & Co Again!
Another great album from Eric. The Washington Post review of "Terrific, tasty rock 'n' soul with a New Orleans twist" is spot on...along with a soul-shaking, funky groove. If you are familiar with Eric's work, this a continuation of his quality work. If you're not, I would recommend getting Change in the Weather first as this is a compilation of his great smaller-label...

3.0 out of 5 stars Low on wow factor
I must say I enjoyed Eric Lindell's "change in weather" better than this release. I think he has a got a good voice and very decent guitar skills. But this album seemed to lack inspiration. It was nothing that really held my attention it has 2 or 3 good songs, and then a few that just seems to be filler songs to make an album. I would like to see him live because I...

Another great album from Eric. The Washington Post review of "Terrific, tasty rock 'n' soul with a New Orleans twist" is spot on...along with a soul-shaking, funky groove. If you are familiar with Eric's work, this a continuation of his quality work. If you're not, I would recommend getting Change in the Weather first as this is a compilation of his great smaller-label stuff. Once that has hooked you, you can continue the ride with Low on Cash....or just get both now, you will eventually order it anyway and will get the free shipping if you do it now!

"It's My Pleasure" is my favorite with its dead-on funky groove complimented by a couple of great guitar bridges. "Low on Cash" and "It's a Pity" are also great, funky Eric songs. I also really enjoy All Night Long, I Got a Girl, Josephine and pretty much the rest of the album. "Mind Your Business" and "Tried and True" are more in 60's soul style, which is less of my thing, but still good, quality songs.

Be sure to check him out live when he comes to town, his show is a awesome!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner from Eric., February 17, 2008
This review is from: Low on Cash, Rich in Love (Audio CD)
What a followup to "Changes in the Weather", wonderful music from start to finish. So many favorite songs, each one is so good it is hard to pick a favorite. Buy this music now if you do not have it, it is worth the purchase. Will not leave your cd rotation for awhile, it is that good.

I had heard "Lay back down" but was really surprised to find the entire album just as enjoyable. An Excellent cd--i'd recommened it in a heartbeat. it's kind of a funky, jazzy, country, creole sound. I'm very happy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Phenomenal CD, seek him out LIVE, February 29, 2008
This review is from: Low on Cash, Rich in Love (Audio CD)
I had the great fortune to catch this band live on a quick stop in MA a few weeks ago directly following their appearance on Conan. Refreshing and original is the best way to describe this unique band and the talents of Eric Lindell. If you are a fan of Blues, R&B, rock, Jersey Shore music, cajun flair, Wilson Pickett, Springsteen, Dr. John, and Van Morrison, then this CD is for you. This CD has obviously has taken all of the above and mixed it into something wonderfully new, with solid musiciansip to walk the walk, and the naturally soulful quality of Eric's voice haunts me every time. EVERY song is good, and, like a previous comment, this has been my main CD in rotation for the better part of a month now and I have also had favorable responses from everyone I've shared it with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Catchy blues makes you want more., February 29, 2008

Eric Lindell. I hate to compare him to the likes of Clapton or Vaughn, but he certainly makes a name for himself with this album. I have yet to hear the album released before this one, but I'll be picking it up in the near future. As a musician, you're always concerned with what other people think when you play "your kind of music." Everyone I'm with when I listen to this CD loves it! We need more artists like Eric Lindell. All I can say is - "refreshing!"

4.0 out of 5 stars It's A Pity, has that good ol 70's soul groove., December 17, 2011
The beauty of the internet or more specificly, Amazon Music in the instance, is what landed me right into the Lindell fan base. Didn't know who he was two months ago but stumbled across the number;"It's A Drag", on one of those blues-mix cd's while searching for a right mix for the Thanksgiving Holiday, and was impressed! Love the harmonica playing on that one. "It's 'a Pity", has that good ol 70's kind of funky soul groove to it, which I think is the best number on this cd. A close second would be: Lady Day & John Coltrane.

Hope to see Eric Lindell move up to the levels of commercial recognition as say, Johnny Lang or Kenny Wayne Shepherd have. Took Kenny Wayne far longer than his level of talent qualified him for, in my book. Another one might be Mark Broussard, a young talent waiting for that 'major break', where everyone knows his name. I like to think I help in some small way by taking a few songs from a few different cd's, mixen it in with other quality stuff, then doing my marketing pitch when other's ask: "Who's that"!? Always just enough to hook em', then I do the artist pitch. It's a tough business & many good talents' wind up wading thru the puddles that should have rode the big wave...and "that's a pity"!

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent introspective (any other kind?) blues, February 1, 2009
This review is from: Low on Cash, Rich in Love (Audio CD)
A troubadour between Dave Matthews and Jack Johnson in style, although the roots and lyrics ultimately land him further back, say squarely in Van Morrison territory. Listening to "Lay Back Down" is cloyingly sentimental, John Cusack could have used it in the boom box scene in "Say Anything" to get the girl. I recommend it for sunsets in Hawaii and sunrises in the Alps. Its perfect for those fleeting moments in your mind when everything is right with the world.
