1979 ALL OVER AGAIN!,
By
This review is from: Casino (Audio CD)
It's been a loooooong time since an album has been such fun to listen to! Produced by Alexander Bard (famous for his Army Of Lovers in the early 90's), Alcazar is a Swedish trio consisting of a male lead singer and two female backups. Though most songs have a classic disco feel, between borrowing recognizable musical passages (from Sheila & B. Devotion and Change) to actual disco samplings (Chic and S.O.S. Band), quite a few are original Europop tracks. The music is lively and energetic, the beats are booming, and the choruses are unbelievably catchy...there isn't a dead track in the lot. "Crying At The Discotheque" has been the huge international hit but future singles could include just about any of the remaining tracks, even the Backstreet/N*Sync-like "Shine On". Meanwhile "Paradise", with its S.O.S. Band sample, is a full-tilt disco blast that will have you hitting the repeat button endlessly. "Transmetropolis" would sound very much at home on a Giorgio Moroder album, and "Ritmo Del Amor" is a hot little latin number. One of the album's big surprises is the remake of the Human League's "Don't You Want Me"...very well-done, it's one of the classiest updates I've ever heard. Depending on which import you obtain, the beautiful downtempo "Blues In G Minor" may be a hidden track (if it's not listed on the cover, just let track 15 run and you'll eventually hear it). The vocals on this album are excellent. It's great to finally hear a male-fronted dance group and all three singers do a fantastic job. There's an occasional Swedish accent here and there, but all vocals are smooth and strain-free, and the pronunciation is crisp. This album is BEGGING for extended versions. A remix edition of "Casino" would be a great offering to Alcazar fans. Truly a fantastic party album. You won't be able to sit still when this is playing. This is sure to become a classic Europop/dance album.

Ok, I had no clue ALCAZAR had a full cd till I started searching online, I came across this by chance. After the fabulous Crying At The Disco from QAF Volume 1. They released a full CD not too long ago of course it's an import only due to the cruel politics of american radio etc.. You must pick up this cd if you love dance, retro, house, etc.. From the fantastic Sexual Guarantee which I guarantee will stay in your head this album delivers what it hints at. You will want to dance non-stop through this CD. Other fantastic highlights include Paris In The Rain, Baby Come Back, and the fantastic Paradise. My only gripe is that one song seems just for filler and that song is Almost Famous which is actually not too bad. But nonetheless this is a hidden gem of a CD. YOU MUST OWN THIS CD NOW!!!!!!!! I guarantee it is worth every dollar you spend. One of my top ten cd's of all time period!!!!

This c.d rocks! From the Chic sampled "Sexual guarantee",you know whats in store, seventies influenced camp, fun pop!Next up is the bass heavy dancefloor filler "crying at the discoteque"which would make Grandma jo jo move!Other great tacks include "Stars come out at night"which blends the past and todays musical styles to perfection,a worlwide hit in the making. You also will be blown away by Alcazars version of the Human league classic "Dont you want me".This update remains true to the original whilst incorparating a bass heavy infectious sound. My other fave track has to be "Shine on"a powerfull catchy track which if realesed as a single in europe will im sure be the biggest hit by Alcazar to date.So while you get your glittery top on tonite,on the way to the club, put this on and enter the fabulous world of Alcazar!
