5.0 out of 5 stars Alcazar hit the States
After conquering the whole of Europe, Australia and even Brasil, Alcazar are now ready to invade the US dance floors. 1.0 out of 5 stars Awful
Alcazar have that same ridiculous something that once made Army Of Lovers so unapealing in the first place . If looks and work out is your thing then this is your band . If you actually looking for something to listen as well , look elsewhere .

5.0 out of 5 stars Alcazar hit the States, August 31, 2002

After conquering the whole of Europe, Australia and even Brasil, Alcazar are now ready to invade the US dance floors. Andreas, Tess and Annikafiore from Sweden scored a massive hit with Crying At The Discoteque (top 3 in Germany, Italy and Belgium among others), followed by other chart toppers like Sexual Guarantee and Don't You Want Me, a cover of the Human League classic. All these fabulous tracks are included on the US version of Alcazar's debut album Casino, now released by E-Magine.

Combine ultra-catchy disco-oriented popsongs with 3 gorgeous and glamorous looking people and infectious dance routines and there you have Alcazar !
The US version of Casino contains 9 original tracks from the European version plus 6 of the best remixes so far. Alcazar will be present at this year's Billboard Dance Music Summit in New York. Don't miss them cause Andreas, Tess and Annikafiore will have you crying of joy at the discoteque !

4.0 out of 5 stars U.S. listeners are missing out!, March 28, 2003

This release of Casino (ASIN B00006EXC2) is the U.S. Edition containing 15 tracks, six of which are remixes. Alcazar is a fun, disco-like group, and the remixes on this disc reinforce this image. But to make room for the mixes, they removed six original tracks--some of which happen to be pretty interesting (like the great beat of "Stars Come Out At Night"). So you don't miss out, I suggest you get the UK Edition of Casino instead (ASIN B00005PJJN). Then, if you want all the remixes, buy this U.S. Edition or buy the individual single CDs where the remixes came from.

5.0 out of 5 stars Disco is back, October 27, 2002

This is an amazing album. The tunes are great and this is the kind of music that is hard to find Un-Imported in the U.S. Most of the songs are remixes of old 80's music etc. But they are very good. The vocals are great and the music has a Euro-Dance feel to it, which I love. I would Highly Recomd this cd to ANYBODY! It is currently the best cd I have heard these past few months.

While the album was not a massive success when it was release here in the States, it made a impression deep enough that someone like me, an avid Pop and Dance music lover, started to take to Alcazar's music through their colour, exciting music videos. Of all the songs, "Sexual Guarentee" and "Crying At The Discotheque" remain my favourites. The vocals and lyrics are very much to my liking. However, the album falls short because of its production. The reliance on extremely successful American R&B/Disco songs detracts from the quality of the album in a few areas. This is most apparent in the unfattering sample of Change's "Glow Of Love" used for "Paris In The Rain." I suppose the producer decided to play it safe on their first outing. Simpler yet more imaginative original production could have done wonders of the song. While not nearly as unflattering, "Paradise" could have this a fabulous song instead a of merely pleasant Dance song. "Don't Leave Me Alone" is easily the strongest of the album tracks! I enjoy it! "Don't You Want Me" is a fun cover while "Almost Famous" and "Ritmo Del Amor" are unabashed campy Pop/Dance. Thankfully, the over-sampling misstep was not repeated with subsequent singles and albums. The remixes are quite enjoyable. However, the six songs that were removed in favour of the remixes should be heard! I would recommended buying both versions (the U.S. & U.K./International) version of "Casino" to get the full appreciation of Alcazar's debut. This is a good album to have if you enjoy Pop and Dance music. It is a respectable debut album. However, if you really want get into their music deeper, "Alcazarized" and especially "Disco Defenders" will show and prove!

5.0 out of 5 stars 'Casino' Is A Jackpot!, June 28, 2004

Alcazar's first full-length release is an exceptional example of, and asset to, 21st century disco! Amazing vocals, energetic, eclectic beats, and that amazing disco element that makes the entire album worth the price! The Swedish influence is a great touch, and you occasionally get a Swedish accent coming through. The remixes included on the US version are great- but if you are a true Alcazar fan, you definitely need the UK vesion! It includes many great songs that you miss with the US version. If you like Kylie Minogue, then this album is definitely worth a second look! And, even if you're just a fan of dance music, this is some of the best mainstream dance that you can find!
