This book is great, it's very funny and will provide many laughs. Unfortunately, if you are looking to read a book on how to gamble well, this is not it.

This book states how to beat Craps (controlled rolling of the dice to land on certain numbers), Blackjack (taking advantage of non-random shuffling and finding groups of high and low cards), and Roulette (watching for a zone on the wheel where the ball repeatedly falls due to the dealer throwing the ball with the same speed).

These methods of how to beat the casino are all completely irrational, unattainable, and at times just plain ridiculous.

If you could beat craps by controlled throwing of the dice, don't you think the casinos would recognize this and change their dice rolling procedures. To avoid having controlled rolls is the exact reason is why they make you hit the back wall in the first place.

If you could beat roullette by taking advantage of dealer memory, where they always throw the ball with the same speed and therefore produces certain zones on the wheel that are hit consistently, don't you think the casino would recognize that certain numbers hit more frequently and change their procedures. The obvious fact that the Author fails to mention is that in order for this method to work, the dealer would always have to throw the ball with the exact same speed and he/she would always have to release it at the exact same spot on the wheel...which is nearly impossible or at least so low a percentage, that I would not bet on it!

The Blackjack stategy is the only one that even resembles rational thought, but even this method of taking advantage of non-random shuffling and finding pockets of either high or low cards and then increasing or decreasing your bet accordingly fails to mention one obvious fact. Even if you do see pockets of high or low cards, you never know how big the pocket is...you could see two hands of all high cards, change your bet accordingly, then the next hand could change to a pocket of low cards.

In summary, this book tells you how the Author consistently beats the casino using these methods...I think the Author needs to realize that he is just getting lucky using his less than scientific systems. If you want to read a book on how to gamble well you should pick one that explains how to minimize your losses, by decreasing the house edge. At least find one that is non-fiction!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book from cover to cover. Jerry Patterson, et al seem to be writing from actual experience rather than some theoretical understanding of the games. Many of the "experts" in this field do not actually play any more. It seems apparent that the authors actually play and use the advice given in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants practical and useful information on Blackjack, or any of the other games mentioned.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Top Notch Book On Gambling, March 15, 2000
In a revision of his 1983 book, Jerry Patterson offers professional and recreational gamblers alike a new perspective on the casino games of, blackjack, craps and roulette. In 21 chapters Casino Gambling dispels myths, crushes age old dogma, and enlightens new age gamblers of the true winning potential of the aformentioned games, as well as providing a no holds bared expose of many of the games offered by the casinos. Casino Gambling provides cutting edge methodology for all gamblers regardless of skill level. It is a technically complete yet easy read which can be understood by the rank amateur yet informative enough to provoke thought from the most experienced of gambling professionals. The methods outlined in it have helped me stay in front of the casinos for years. I feel the chapter on developing a winning attitude alone is well worth the cover price. A copy of this book belongs on the night stand or book shelf of every gambler out there, period. It is my opinion that this guide is destined to be a gambling classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Casino Gambling Book is TOPS, March 16, 2001

This Casino Gambling Book is TOPS

Back in the late 80's I read Jerry Paterson's best selling book, "BlackJack: A Winner's Hand Book. That Book provided me with an absolute "WOW" factor in playing the multi-deck shoe games. It advanced my knowledge on how to win at Blackjack many levels. Since then I have read every book I can find that Jerry Patterson has written.

After reading his newest Book, Casino Gambling, it's easy to understand why it's also a Best Selling Book on Gambling. This book contains fresh facts on what you need to know about how to play all the major games in today's casinos. The book takes the "mystery" out of Blackjack, Craps, Roulette and other casino games. Jerry addresses all skill levels equally well, amateur to professional, with many thought provoking strategies: Betting, money management, mental preparation, do's & don'ts that are based on proven facts from actual casino play in today's games, from Atlantic City to Las Vegas, including River Boats and Indian Reservation casinos.

I was able to put "Winning Factors" for the multi-deck blackjack game to good use right away after reading the book on my next casino visit.

Craps is covered in depth including all the important betting strategies, the odds payoffs, well structured money management systems and is easy to understand. This book provides a sound strategy, the best I have seen on dice control, for becoming an "advantage" craps player.

Understanding "how to play with an advantage" on Blackjack, Craps and Roulette is very enlightening and I found that the advantage method for each game actually works.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 star book on casino gambling, March 13, 2000

(REAL NAME)
I've been reading the books of Jerry Patterson for some 20 or so years. Over the years, he has consistently delivered fresh and unique approaches to casino gambling which have been very helpful to me. Casino Gambling is no exception. For example, "Winning Factors" for the multi-deck blackjack shoe games is something I can put into use right away.

I especially like the "getting an advantage" theme of the book which is prevalent in the blackjack, craps and roulette chapters. While I'm not a Craps player, the Advantage Craps System has me tempted to go looking for those long forgotten souvenir dice! And I like the fact that in this one book, I now have information I can use in playing any casino table game including casino poker games like Pai Gow and Let It Ride.

Chapter 2, entitled Mental Preparation, should (in my opinion), be read by anyone who ever places any type of wager. The advice given here alone, is worth the price of the book.

Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jerry Patterson made me a serious casino game player!, April 26, 2000
I have been a recreational gambler for the last 10 years. I have made a dozen or so trips to Atlantic city within this time. I have always played blackjack, and I always seemed to basically break even (or only leave the casino up or down 20 dollars.) I have always been intrigued with the game of craps but found it confusing and the one time that I played, I lost fifty dollars in the the space of about ten or fifteen minutes so I gave up on the game because I didn't know what I was doing. This book took the mystery out of the game! For the first time, I knew what all the markings on the table were and how to bet the game. On one particularly lucrative casino cruise outing I knew exactly what I was doing. I tripled my money at the craps table after reading Mr. Patterson's book. After the casino closed, the other players complemented me on how skillfully I rolled the dice. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I was a beginner. I did, however, turn the table into a hot table with everyone cashing out big. I credit this book with my success and Jerry Patterson has the best systems for winning at a casino.

5.0 out of 5 stars Casino Gambling, February 3, 2001
By

This book touches on many things that even most of the experienced "average gamblers" are probably unaware of. Even the blackjack player who considers themself as a good player who knows perfect basic strategy will find many other helpful ideas to improve their game, whether they wish to make use of just a few things covered in the book and play near even with the casino or seriously study and practice the tactics and make blackjack a profitable game for them. When I used to play blackjack, I had no idea that the cards were not random and lost much more than I should have at a bad table. After reading the book you should be able to eliminate those "bad" tables and keep any losses you have to a minimum by employing the prooper money management strategies. The craps and roulette chapters cover many useful ideas that most gamblers are unaware of. Whether blackjack, roulette, or craps, making use of the information in the book should seperate the reader from

majority of other gamblers. A must read for any gamblers bookshelf.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best books, March 12, 2000

Casino Gambling is one of the best books. Jerry has expert on gambling and shows his skillful experience between an advantage over the casino's percentage in profits and a disadvantage under it while playing at any table games to beat the odds. His strategy on a money management system is very important to be disclosed in his book. He has a good wisdom about beating the odds in his guts. I think he generously makes his contribution to this book for awkard gamblers because most players didn't know how to find a way to beat the odds by using a money managment system. Read that book before you get ready for doing execrises from using his strategy or money management system. Jerry, if you still make profits from your gambling business today, you can always have anything in the world for free, instead of paying ---drinking for free, eating for free, sleeping for free, and traveling the world for free.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK, August 22, 2000
"Casino Gambling", a great book that can be used by anyone who enjoys casino gambling. I am a Blackjack player. I have been for years. I purchased "Casino Gambling", for the Blackjack. After reading the Blackjack section, I browsed through other sections. I was particularly intrested in Roulette. Reading about "sectional betting", I was intrigued. I purchased a Roulette layout, wheel and practiced at home. I used the "sectional betting" spelled out in "Casino Gambling". It worked. I have played Roulette several times while in the casino and won. The price of the book and layout has more then been paid for by my winnings. Now I have another game to play in the casino. It is easy, a no brainier, that's why I like Roulette. Oh yes. The Blackjack section is informative. I like the approach of looking for the tables that have the likely hood of winning. This makes sense. Great book buy it, read it. Use it like a reference book. My book has yellow stickers from cover to cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars For the Gambler, and self-improvment seeker., February 10, 2001

Mark E. Gohlke (Tigard, OR, U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
I have paid particular attention to chapter two of this book. For anyone who is a beginner, or is considering becoming a serious player, I highly recommend reading Jerry's book, BEFORE placing any wagers at the casinos. Chapter two deals with the psychology behind those neon signs, and how to confront it. Jerry's approach to the world of Gaming, is a labrotory of human behavoir, and statistical data. He commissioned a doctor of psychology to study the affects the casinos have on us, while we are in there playing. Each chapter of the book has an accumlative background of years of research, along with, trial and error. For myself, I have strengthened many disciplines, and found his Sixteen Axioms, on page 21, applicable to my other goals in life. I will be using his outline as a basis for my own business development, as well as the business of being a player at the tables. I will use this book for reference, and reassurance. Jerry, and his co-authors, write in a clear and understandable dialogue that is refreshing, and real. If you are thinking about doing a little, or a lot of gambling, this book is like having a personal coach, to guide, and help you through the rough spots. Jerry's integrity, and the integrity of his associates, have created a book that will withstand the test of time, and jealousy.
