Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Stylish enough for the boardroom but rugged enough for the wakeboard, the Casio Marine stainless steel analog-digital watch for men (model AMW320R-7EV) combines the timeless look of an analog watch with the functionality of a digital watch. This analog digital combination allows you to see up to 2 times or the date with day of the week. The round silver stainless steel case measures 45mm wide (1.77 inches), and it's complemented by a black resin sports strap. The inner rim of the bezel provides an Arabic numeral readout with small minute indexes, and the white face includes luminous hour markers, oversized luminous hands (with seconds hand), and a digital window above the 6 o'clock mark.

Timekeeping features include dual time, a daily alarm, auto calendar, and a 1/100-second stopwatch with a 24-hour capacity. Other features include a ±30-second accuracy per month, scratch-resistant mineral crystal, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet)--offering protection from accidental splashes as well suitable for swimming, snorkeling, and light recreational diving.

The Casio Story

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

In developing its own wristwatches Casio began with the basic question, ""What is a wristwatch?"" Rather than simply making a digital version of the conventional mechanical watch, we thought that the ideal wristwatch should be something that shows all facets of time in a consistent way. Based on this, Casio was able to create a watch that displayed the precise time including the second, minute, hour, day, and month — not to mention a.m. or p.m., and the day of the week. It was the first watch in the world with a digital automatic calendar function that eliminated the need to reset the calendar due the variation in month length. Rather than using a conventional watch face and hands, a digital liquid crystal display was adopted to better show all the information. This culminated in the 1974 launch of the CASIOTRON, the world’s first digital watch with automatic calendar. The CASIOTRON won acclaim as a groundbreaking product that represented a complete departure from the conventional wristwatch.

Casio transformed the concept of the watch — from a mere timepiece to an information device for the wrist — and undertook product planning based on this innovative idea. We developed not only time functions such as global time zone watches, but also other radical new functions using Casio’s own digital technology, including calculator and dictionary functions, as well as a phonebook feature based on memory technology, and even a thermometer function using a built-in sensor. The memory-function watches became our DATA BANK product series, while the sensor watches developed into two unique Casio product lines of today: the Pathfinder series displaying altitude, atmospheric pressure, and compass readings.

In 1983, Casio launched the shock-resistant G-SHOCK watch. This product shattered the notion that a watch is a fragile piece of jewelry that needs to be handled with care, and was the result of Casio engineers taking on the challenge of creating the world’s toughest watch. Using a triple-protection design for the parts, module, and case, the G-SHOCK offered a radical new type of watch that was unaffected by strong impacts or shaking. Its practicality was immediately recognized, and its unique look, which embodied its functionality, became wildly popular, resulting in explosive sales in the early 1990s. The G-SHOCK soon adopted various new sensors, solar-powered radio-controlled technology (described below), and new materials for even better durability. By always employing the latest technology, and continuing to transcend conventional thinking about the watch, the G-SHOCK brand has become Casio’s flagship timepiece product.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, and the radio-controlled function means users never have to reset the time. In particular, the radio-controlled function represents a revolution in time-keeping technology similar to the impact created when mechanical watches gave way to quartz technology. Through the further development of high radio-wave sensitivity, miniaturization, and improved energy efficiency, Casio continues to produce a whole range of radio-controlled models.

4.0 out of 5 stars Only watch that my husband will wear!, January 15, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I have bought this watch for him every 6 years. He has owned three so far. After replacing the battery, it is not as water resistant. Also, the band has broken on two out of the three of the watches. I gave it 4 stars because of the degradable band. No other watch has movable bezel, analog and digital time, with an alarm, for under $100.00.

4.0 out of 5 stars Two watches in one, July 31, 2009

This review is from: Casio Men's AMW320R-7EV Sport Alarm Ana-Digi Dive Watch (Watch)
This watch is actually a digital watch and analog watch in one case. These watches are not linked, so it's possible to have different times on the analog face from the digital display. The second digital time requires you to set the minutes and hours although in most of the world time zones only change the hour. So it's up to you to manually synchronize the three different time displays so things make sense. If you travel, you can set the analog display to local time and your digital time will remain as your home time, so this can be used as an advantage too.

Other than this peculiarity, this is a very nice watch. The display is easy to read, and the watch is very easy to set. The stop watch is basic start and stop, no lap feature. The digital display is small but easy to see and read. There's an hourly chime that can be set that gives two quick beeps on the hour. No backlight on the digital display. The alarm is works well; it is not very loud which can be a plus or minus depending on your need. All components are very good quality - I would have preferred a rubber band, but the resin band is comfortable.

All things considered, this is a fine everyday watch at a really good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars A FINE CHRONOGRAPH WRIST WATCH, March 27, 2007
I love the watch expecially, with the black white color. Looks the casio of the old, with a modern twist. The watch is very basic in design. A dual digital, fully funtional chronograpgh watch. One other thing; it is very easy to set. The only problem is, it is not back lit. So the digital part of the watch is useless at night (if incase you happen to be doing something in the dark, at night). This is the only disappointing fact about the wrist watch. You might think a watch that cost $60 will have a self supplied light, but it does not. SAD. SHAME ON CASIO. Apart from that, i love the watch.
