2.0 out of 5 stars Great watch - but band not as described
Great features, but the clasp isn't adjustable like they show in the picture. No instructions in the booklet that comes with it.
The online instructions that I've found elsewhere look complicated - need a paperclip, screwdrivers and pliers. I'll probably return it.

Impressions after 1 week:

I spent quite a bit of time looking for a watch that has all the features I wanted, and this fit the bill perfectly. I wanted analog + digital so I could have all the "nerdy" features I was after without looking like I'm wearing a "nerd" watch - something that would look as good at a formal dinner party as it would at the beach. I especially like the low-profile buttons on this watch (which work just fine despite their size).

Nuts and bolts: this Casio has 3 alarms (1 snooze), day/date calendar, dual time, multi-lap stopwatch, and most important to me, a countdown timer (why every digital watch doesn't have one in this day and age is beyond me). Note also that there is a digital sweep-second indicator that fills the little "windows" that surround the circumference of the dial. The illumination is of the "indiglo" variety and works great.

I think this watch looks very elegant and it seems to be well made - it has a solid, dependable feel. I really like the cobalt-blue dial (note that you can also get this watch with a white or black dial). The bracelet seems sturdy and well-made and it's comfortable on my wrist. It is not obscenely thick like some of the Casio G-Shock watches that look like you're wearing a small laptop computer on your wrist - nicely proportioned in thickness vs diameter.

Cons - the digital sweep second indicator is really too small and hard to see to be of much use except in the brightest light. The two LCD windows are a bit small if your eyesight is fading (but perfectly fine to my 46-year-old eyes). Note that these LCD windows are behind the analog hands so they will be obscured during certain times of the day, but then again, how often do you have to look up the day/date in a normal day?

Overall, two thumbs way up - I am completely satisfied. Far and away the best watch I found at this price, and I spent weeks looking at Amazon's offerings from Casio, Timex, Citizen, Pulsar, Fossil, and others.

2.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy construction, with a plastic, not metal case, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Casio Men's AQ164WD-2AV Ana-Digi Sport Watch (Watch)
I wanted a watch with digital functions, but with an analog face. Upon arrival, the Casio appears more like a plastic and metal toy than an adult's watch. It looks great in the pics until you hold it in your hands. The problem is that it's essentially a plastic case sandwiched between tin-foil-like metal shell coverings. I was so disappointed, I returned this watch for the much better made, Timex Men's Ironman Triathlon 42 Lap Combo Analog Digital Dress Watch #T56371 ($41.73 in August 2009), which at time of purchase was approximately ten dollars more than the Casio, yet is far more substantial in feel and construction. If you want this Casio, the lowest price I've seen on Amazon is $30.95 (as of August 2009), so shop wisely.

5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME WATCH, GREAT PRICE!, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Casio Men's AQ164WD-2AV Ana-Digi Sport Watch (Watch)
This watch is amazing for the price I paid. Its very handsome and has a wide array of features. Its very light weight compared to my old ana-digi watch. If anyone was wondering, the dial is a metallic blue instead of a dull blue, and it looks great. The only cons I can see about this watch is that the button positions are different than my old watch and the free super saver shipping was really slow (ordered on the 31st and got it on the 9th). Great watch, great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch, June 26, 2009

I have had this watch about 2 months now and also have some atomic watches and this thing is dead on correct time. Like all the features and use them all. I wish the dial was a litlee lighter blue as it look black unless you hold it just right. Is acually deep purple than blue. Wouls buy again for looks, funtionality and price.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok watch, poor band, October 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

Watch is ok, it was what I expected. The zoom viewing on Amazon helps to make a good choice online for a small product such as a watch. Where this product really didn't meet expectations was the band. The quality of the band is very cheap. The screws that you remove to adjust the length were so bad that I was not able to remove a link. The manual that came with the watch did not have instructions for adjusting the band and I could not find any.
Also, I have begun receiving spam to my email since I ordered this watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Value, November 27, 2009
This review is from: Casio Men's AQ164WD-2AV Ana-Digi Sport Watch (Watch)
A nice watch with all the features that most watches of this type have. It's a little thinner than others I have had so it's more comfortable to wear.

One weak point is that the crystal is made of a softer plastic than most so you have to be careful not to scratch it.

I've only had it for a couple of months so time will tell how it fares in the durability department.

When I got this watch, i was surprised by the plastic dial 'diver's' ring that doesn't move. But despite this appearance it looked good on the outside, until you bump into anything. It scratches like cheap plastic and then becomes harder to read. I have had this watch for 3 weeks now and scratched it 4 times. I bumped into the wall again today while carrying something up the steps - it left a mark.

BEWARE - do not buy this 'mineral' watch face. It is plastic. It scratches very easily. I plan to return/buy a better watch next time, and by that I mean next week.

This watch is a great watch, I like the blue color of it. Have had no problems with it since I bought it. Keeps time very well, fits my big wrists. All in all a very good purchase for me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good but not great, August 16, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Men's AQ164WD-2AV Ana-Digi Sport Watch (Watch)
I wanted a watch that would simultaneously display 2 times and the date. This one does that. It has two digital time zones plus analog time, countdown timer, stopwatch, 3 alarms (which can be daily, weekly, or on a specific date). The analog time is completely independent of digital times. This will be a hassle for many users, but it's perfect for places like Afghanistan or Newfoundland, where the time zones are not whole-hours off of GMT. "World time" watches often can't handle these weird time zones.
Note that all the alarms and calendar are related only to the *digital* time. If you want the analog hands to be local time and the digital display to be a different time zone (like GMT), this will complicate setting alarms and date. It's too soon to tell how accurate the timekeeping will be, or how well the analog time will stay aligned with the digital.
CONS: case is not metal--it's black plastic with a stamped metal overlay. Extremely difficult to remove links from the band (no instructions provided. you'll need a hammer!). Crystal is scratched fairly easily; bezel offers no protection because the crystal is domed above it. Digital mode displays can be cryptic.
