Whether you're just learning to play the instrument or you want a solid MIDI-compatible device for recording, the Casio CTK-591is an ideal choice. The keyboard's 61 full-size keys play up to 255 separate tones, including stereo piano, synthesized guitar, drum sets, and much more. Students will groove to the advanced three-step lesson system, which lets you practice at your own pace while automatically grading your performances so you can track your progress. The system offers onscreen step-by-step guidance and evaluates your performances using a variety of metrics. The keyboard will even report your progress vocally, both in the middle and at the end of a lesson. The instrument is also a hit at parties thanks to its sing-along function, which lets users connect a commercial microphone and sing over the keyboard's 100 built-in tunes. Among the songs are 50 tunes with auto accompaniment and 50 piano-only songs. Should users want to play over the tunes, they can remove the left- or right-handed piano part of a piano-only track or the melody component of an auto accompaniment track.
The CTK-591 connects to either a PC or Mac through its General MIDI input and output. Keyboard owners can use the device for recording or as a sound source, and alternatively to play back pre-recorded MIDI music software. Additional features include a selection of 120 rhythms that cover rock, pop, jazz, and most other musical styles; auto accompaniment (with one-touch presets) that adds rhythm, bass, and chord parts to your melodies; a musical information system with an LCD screen that displays fingerings, appropriate keys, and other info for intuitive learning; and a song memory function that records up to two parts for later playback. The keyboard also includes a headphone jack and assignable jack for a sustain or rhythm start/stop pedal.
