5.0 out of 5 stars I couldn't be more pleased
This little label printer prints beautifully on DVDs! The ribbon does only last for about 40-50 DVDs, so order the 3 pack with your purchase. I don't object to the software that comes with the unit. It does what you need it to do...print a few lines of text on the DVD.

3.0 out of 5 stars Overheats Easily then malfunctions/dead
RMA this twice through J&R and finally replaced it with CW-50. Then I realized why they "died" after a few prints. It's the overheating problem caused it to lock:
-CW-E60 can print 5 disks continuously then it's completely dead/malfunctioned
-CW-50 can print upto 10 disks continuously then it'll lock up. After it cools down, you can print again. Therefore,...

1.0 out of 5 stars There is better., March 19, 2007

Purchased this printer. I was very disapointed. It left black streaks when printing. Also the printing was poor, and it will only print on super smooth surfaces. I ordered the CW-100 Thermo printer, to replace this one. It works much better.

1.0 out of 5 stars Vista Users Beware!!, November 25, 2008
This review is from: Casio CW-E60 Disc Title Printer (Personal Computers)
I purchased this product directly from the Casio website. I read the fine print (I thought) which stated that the item IS compatible with Windows Vista. After unpacking, setting up and beginning to install, my computer was unable to locate the device driver for the printer. I returned to the Casio website, found the "New" driver for Windows Vista, downloaded and installed it. The device was still not functioning and Windows could not locate the driver. I again returned to the Casio website. Oh, guess what??!! Lo and behold, down at the bottom of the driver page in fine print it states that this printer is NOT compatible with Windows Vista x64, which just so happens to be MY version. Lucky me!!

So, as a warning to anyone out there with Windows Vista x64...this printer WILL NOT WORK!!! Do not waste your money.

Now, I get to call Casio's customer service line and begin the process of obtaining authorization to return my new paperweight at my own expense.

Have a nice day!!! I am!!!

This labeler works as advertised. It does stop in the middle of printing sometimes for no apparent reason, but unplugging and replugging it in solves the problem. Even though the ink tapes are very small, they seem to last longer than expected. I am pleased I bought it since the printed titles are much better than my handwriting.

It broke after 6 prints. Six. You cant talk to anyone. You have to PAY to ship it. Then theyll let you know if they will charge you. Don't do business with Casio. I thought surely they must have fixed thier product, but no, they didnt.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for the money, September 15, 2010

This printer works as advertised. For the money you pay, you can't expect a piece of professional quality equipment. But it's good enough to get the job done. If you treat it properly it will label your disks easily without having to scribble your messy handwriting all over them. Mainly it is for printing text labels, though you can also print graphics, which I haven't tried yet.

To print the top and bottom of a disk you have to insert one side of the disk. The printer prints upside down and moves the disk as it prints. Then you rotate the disk 180° and print the other side. The software that comes with it is fairly easy to figure out.

One negative I would mention is that the printable area is restricted to a band along the disk that is equal to the wide of the ribbon, which is 3/4". That leaves extra space that you can't print to, which means you might have to use a smaller font then you otherwise would have. Still, because the printing is clearer then writing you can generally fit more readable text in the limited space then writing by hand with a marker using the whole disk.

Another negative is the ribbons only last about 40 disks so you need to keep a large supply if you use it often. And that can be a bit expensive.

1.0 out of 5 stars JUNK: CASIO = CRAP., October 30, 2010
This review is from: Casio CW-E60 Disc Title Printer (Personal Computers)
I have owned 3 of these. They have all broken in the same manner, in a short amount of time. The print head pops out against your CD/DVD while in use & that's all she wrote. The ribbons are expensive, and short. I like the way it prints. I can tolerate the ribbons. But when my 3rd machine broke in the same manner as the 1st 2, I have come to HATE Casio! I no longer trust the brand name Casio.
Casio = Crap.

3.0 out of 5 stars good idea, execution lacking, June 19, 2010
This review is from: Casio CW-E60 Disc Title Printer (Personal Computers)
I got this for about $20 its at the threshold of throwaway impulse purchases.
It installs easy enough, the software is easy to use. The idea is good.

Now for the bad parts:
The replacement tapes are not cheap, looks like about $10-12 for a cart that will do 20 top and bottom labels or 40 single pass labels. The printer prints on the lower half of the disk surface first and then requires you rotate the disk 180 degrees and make a second pass to print on the other half (it automatically inverts the image), if you want to do both. That would seem to put the cost per label 25 cents to 50 cents. The amount of tape used is constant if you print one letter or several lines per pass.

The other issue is the quality and that is the worst part... when it works its got nice clean, very black print in any font and size. But the one i have tends to have a few places where the ink doesn't stick well, usually at the bottom and trailing edge of the text. So sometimes i take a sharpie and fill it in. Maybe its the disks I print on, but they do have a flat and clear surface.

Since the disk moves sideways when printing and not rotating, the text is always in a straight line and it may be very difficult to get top and bottom labels lined up perfectly parallel since its dependent upon how carefully you place the disk in the device's slot. Since I only printed labels at the bottom it wasn't a problme for me and I got most labels level enough.

So probably given those issues I would not buy it again. Too bad, its a nice alternative to hand writing on a disk, makes it look at least a bit professional.

Compared to Lightscribe, its not hardware dependent and doesn't require special compatible disks and finally the print contrast is way, way better. But it appears that the light scribe is much more consistent and you can print on practically the entire disk surface.

1.0 out of 5 stars CASIO JUNK, March 22, 2007
This review is from: Casio CW-E60 Disc Title Printer (Personal Computers)
I bought this printer because of its small footprint and because it had a brand name I thought I could trust. Boy was I wrong on that last one.
The driver will not install. Hardware Installation pops up a message saying "The software you are installing for this hardware: CW-E60 has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. This hardware will not be installed. Contact your system administrator."
I went to Casio Support where I spoke with a very nice guy who in the end told me that he would have to refer my problem to a computer tech, the problem was beyond has realm. I'll have him call you, he says.
Casio has no email support so with no other choices I take a day off work to wait on the call. Everywhere I go I carry a phone. Don't want to miss this call. Didn't dare have a shower. Couldn't work outside. Just wait for the phone call from Casio. Their Customer Service is open until 8pm, so I wait and wait. No Call. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times, it won't work.
Lost a day's work, have to pay shipping back to J&R and don't have a badly needed printer. NEVER AGAIN WILL I BUY CASIO OR J&R MUSIC. Why should I have to pay to return junk that should not have been sold in the first place??
