5.0 out of 5 stars One of my treasured possessions
I've owned this watch for 7 and a half years, since I was in 7th grade. It's served me perfectly, through watch band breakings and new battery replacements. The printing on it never wore off on the calculator buttons, and the screen did not scratch easily. The battery replacements were easy.

I only now am finally moving on to the DBC310-1 - not because I want...

2.0 out of 5 stars Worse watch than the Casio Databank 150, but the only replacement
I've owned the Casio Databank 150 for 20 years and it is my lifeline for getting to meetings/appointments on time. Unfortunately Casio doesn't make it anymore, and it is impossible to read letters anymore, just the numbers, and the '1' button doesn't always work. So I bought the closest replacement by Casio.

I'm less than pleased. I don't need the phone...

I only now am finally moving on to the DBC310-1 - not because I want to, but because the plastic casing on the DBC30-1 finally cracked, and I can't connect the band to the watch anymore. The ironic thing is that the watch itself still works perfectly. I imagine it probably will work for longer then I'm alive.

An excellent watch. I'll never get anything but Casio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Timeless, November 28, 2005
I bought this watch in 1997 for the first time and then lost it after 5 years. I was very happy when I found it again after searching for weeks in many stores. For me this is the perfect watch since I use the calculator every so often and do not need more than 30 phone book entries. But it is handy to have the most important numbers right on the watch since I don't always carry my cell phone around.

I don't need the phone number capability (now that I have a cell phone) but do use the scheduled alarms by date. I could schedule alarms on my cell phone, but it's not always on me (no pockets-I'm female). The old one could schedule 150 total items (phone numbers or scheduled alarms). This one only has 30 phone numbers and they are totally separate from the alarms, of which there are ONLY 5!! What a pain. The are also not as easy to set, needing multiple buttons ('mode' to set which alarm, and 'adjust' to start the setting), and holding down the adjust button (not just pressing it as the instructions say) until the numbers flash. I found this to be several seconds.

It also has no timer, just a stopwatch, and I use the timer function a lot as well, rather than carry a kitchen timer around in my non-existent pockets. Why did Casio have to 'fix' something that wasn't broken. I'd have gladly paid more to have the old features.

I'm very tempted to return this one and stay with my old one until it completely gives up, or use my husband's seldom used one but it doesn't have a light. If I can find one on Ebay, this one is going back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Casio DBC30-1Databank Digital Wrist Watch, September 25, 2010

This review is from: Casio Men's DBC30-1 Databank Digital Watch (Watch)
I've had a similar watch (1276 module) for over a decade, which includes World Time zones(London = GMT, valued by pilots and travel), but I found the DBC30 (1253 module) to NOT have world time zones; hence the DBC30 is in my drawer for backup. Otherwise these modules are the same except that the DBC30 instead has a large personal data capacity which I do not use. Both modules are an excellent timepiece. The back lit (green) display is excellent for night use. Reliability is very high. The battery (#2016) is easily found at Radio Shack and lasts a few years.. apply a thin film of silicon grease to the gasket when reassembling to assure moisture immunity. I use the calculator repeatedly on job sites where little math jobs pop up on-the-fly. Alarm works well. Stopwatch is great for negotiating parking lots and meters. The plastic wristband works, but is awkward. I always replace the original band with a metal stretch band bought off the shelf wherever I can find one. When trimmed for your wrist, such a watch-band combo is the best you will ever have owned.

This is the third Casio Databank Digital watch I have owned. It operates as advertised except the button used to initiate input is very difficult to operate. It takes many "pushs" to get it to work. A person who found it difficult to manage small buttons would find it difficult to use this watch.

I have a Casio "Databank" I've had for 20+ years, and it still is on my wrist. My purchase is a back-up.

I ordered this product, because I've had several "calculator type" watches in previous lives. They have stopped carrying this type of Casio in many stores, so I ordered on here. I didn't get the most expensive or the cheapest - I've had those in the past. I just got the 1 that is the most functional for me at a reasonable cost.

The keypad bottons I can enter with the ole "side fingernail" - raised enough to connect well, but not spongy. The light works well to see without my glasses at night. Amazon delivery was smooth. It's a good buy.

This is a great watch, I used to have one years ago but misplaced it. When I found it on Amazon for $[...] I was amazed as I remember paying about $[...] years back. I like the light weight, great calculator, brightly lit screen.

3.0 out of 5 stars works fine, until something breaks., February 6, 2009

I've owned several casio watches.
I owned many in the databank series over the years.

The good:
For the most part they are all great functionally.

The bad:
Plastic issues.
Even with regular use either the (black plastic) bands break or the pin receiver portion of the watch breaks (the area where the band's pin seats itself).
[I take the watch off for showering every day, and it really irks me to have a band start cracking about the 11 month mark].

For the most part, I get about 12 to 18 months use out of a casio, before something breaks. (and it is almost as much to fix as it would be to buy a new watch.

Last year I had one of these and when the band started breaking/cracking, I repaired it with a "plastic repair" kit from Urethane supply company.
The area where the band broke would remain in good shape, but a new crack would start. After 4 plastic repairs, I gave up.

I replaced my databank with a metal waveceptor. Or I thought it was metal. Most of the watch body was simply plastic plated with chrome.
