Product Description

Casio

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

I really can't emphasize just how incredible Casio's reinvented Edifice label has become. I own 4 now and they are simply awesome. This diver watch is my favorite. Go to casio's new edifice site to see the full array, all are impressive.

    What's awesome:
    1) Very large dial
    2) Heavy weight
    3) Screw in crown
    4) Day AND Date that are the largest most readable I have ever seen
    5) The black dial is a wavy texture just like the Seamaster

    What could be better:
    1) The resin band while curved up to the dial looks great, its stiff and even 6 months has not softened. I already switched it out to very soft silicone rubber (22mm) strap. That upgrade only cost 12 beans so not bad given the price on this watch has dropped 13 beans since I bought it. In time I will get a steel band as well.
    2) The blue bezel while my favorite color, could have been a little darker and it's matte finish is unique but a gloss would seriously make others think you are wearing a $2K watch.
    3) The lack of Sapphire crystal understandably keeps the cost down but I would pay for it if Casio offered.

Like all other Edifices' the price to quality ratio is 2nd to none. I was a Orient fan, but these Edifice watches simply blow them out of the water. This EFM100 is simply stunning. An all around man's everyday watch. I think with the steel band upgrade it would be good enough for James Bond.

Beautiful watch at this price point. When I opened the box, I was very pleasantly surprised! It looks much better in person, especially the 3D effects of the wavy patterns engraved into the watch dial when held at a certain angle to the light. IMO here's a summary of PROS and CONS:

    PROS:
    - Solid stainless steel construction & classy look.
    - Bezel lines up perfectly with hour/minute marks on dial.
    - Hour & Minute hands very easy to read and are in perfect alignment (i.e., hour hands are precisely aligned with hour marks when minute hand is at 12 o'clock).
    - Second hand align perfectly with second marks on dial.
    - Hour & Minute hands and dial's hour marks retain luminescence for 30+ minutes after light exposure.
    - Keeps precise time. I initially set the time in sync with atomic clock 3 weeks ago. I check it at least 2 times a day, and it has not drifted more than one second per week.
    - Very easy to read time at a quick glance.
    - Can be worn with business, business casual, or informal attire.
    - Love the day AND date feature.
    - Screw-down crown and back, and water resistant to 200m.
    - Back of watch and band do not pull any arm hairs!

    CONS:
    - Band is a bit stiff at first, but it breaks in pretty quickly.
    - Crown is a bit difficult to unscrew, but I suppose that's a good thing.

If you remotely like the looks and features of this watch, I highly recommend you go for it!

The best "bargain" divers watch period! I own some pretty decent divers watches, the Edifice EFM100 is a steal $85.00 brought to your doorstep. I bought this timepiece for my New England boating duty on the weekends. I loved it so much, I bought another to keep in my closet for back-up.

There are other bargains like the Seiko 007 or Orient's Mako for $125.00+ I dig automatics, but quartz has it's place as well. Big deal, you have to change out a battery every 2+ years or so. It's a solid time keeper, the second hand is perfect aligned the inner bezel. It's a outstanding timepiece for the money. Yes, it's not going to beat some other offerings for more money, but it's a "value" watch that looks great & does it's job very well.

I wear this watch daily and love it. I also wore this watch during my two week vacation at the beach in the water and sand and it worked perfectly. I think it only loses 1 minute a month in time accuracy!

This watch is a great bargain. Simple but, stands out. Stainless steel cast with durable polymer band should last a long time. The time, day and, date can be read at an arms length.

Looks like the Seamaster but I like this design better. This is my current favorite out of my watch collection
