I'm a giant fan of G-Shock watches but I wanted something more stylish for work and more formal occasions. I also wanted something that still had all the bells and whistles I enjoy in my G-Shocks. I really like the look of this watch. It's not huge like many watches I've seen out right now but there's nothing dainty about it. Stylishly large without looking like a kid wearing dad's watch.
I wasn't sure how a purely analog watch would handle all of the extras like stopwatch with multiple laps, timer, alarm etc.. but I'm impressed at how straight-forward they were able to make it. I was especially glad a countdown timer was included as this is something I use often. You will have to puruse the manual once to familiarize yourself with the buttons but so far I'm finding it pretty easy to use.
The solar power is a really cool feature and the independat hand motion is really slick. All in all it's pretty much exactly what I wanted, like a fancy G-Shock.
I've only had the watch for a few days so I can't comment on durability but I'm loving it.

I bought this watch almost a year ago and here are my impressions about it.

As soon I opened the box I noticed how beautiful this watch is. There are red details in some parts of the dial, along the crown, in two numbers of the Tachymeter in the bezel (60 and 120; 12 and 6 hour positions, respectively) and below the bezel, which can hardly been on the stock photos. The color is very subtle and elegant and is not very "shiny", even under direct sunlight exposure. This gives the watch a classy look.

Esthetically, another thing you'll notice is how thin this watch is. This is amazing, especially because of how much technology there's inside of it (which I'll discuss), and very comfortable as the watch sits very close to your wrist. The bracelet is solid and has 3 microadjustments. My wrist is 6,5~6,75" and I can wear just fine. Also, you can't see on the stock photos, but the middle "line" of the bracelet is "shiny" stainless steel, while the rest is brushed, which is really cool under the light.

The dial is a solar panel, so it's hard to capture the beauty of this piece in photos. Also on the dial, you have a 24 hour indicator (top), a date indicator (with white numbers on black backgroun, really beautiful); the bottom dial is much more complex and handles mode, day of the week and chronograph indications.

Now, about the technology. I live in Brazil and the watch took nearly two months to arrive here. However, even though the watch is solar-powered, as soon as I opened the box and light shone on it, the seconds hand started ticking. You can check the level of the battery, which I did, and it was on "High" (Maximum). This is awesome! I've been wearing now and then and the level has never dropped below High.

This watch is well built as would be expected from Casio. This is my second Edifice which is a great line of watches. The main reason I picked this watch was because it is tough solar; no replacing batteries. So many watches today do not use the big second hand for full time seconds but instead use the big second hand for chronograph use only. Not the case with this watch; the large second hand is the full time second hand. If you are even thinking of getting this watch just get it. You will not be disappointed.

Have been doing my research for a while and decided that this watch probably represents the best combination of technology, style and functionality. This is a pure digital watch but buried in a analog skin. The most amazing part is the way it works to do the functions of stop watch, timer, alarm, and world time altogether in style! Smart access is the most important technology that makes the leap. Without it, the functions will perform clumsily. The next in line is the five motor design, this allows all the functions works in a simplest way without overwhelming the display or slowing down the functionality. Earlier Edifice design did not work because at first they lacked the multiple motor design and made the stop watch function a pain to use due to the time it takes to return the hands back to the zero position. The new 5 direct motor design essentially got rid of this problem completely. However, they are still a little slower compared to digital display, but I guess this is the best you can get from a pure analog display. I would prefer the Red Bull version since the color is more pleasing, but I won't pay the price. The next most amazing watch under same envelope is the ProTrek PRX7000, which also pushed the thermometer, altimeter and compass into a single analog piece, but with a high price tag. In comparison, other brands of digital/analog watches are mostly only skin deep. Casio started a true revolution to push the digital/analog watch boundaries and that earns my respect.

Update: 2 months ago I noticed that the power indicator started pointing to 'low' whenever I checked. I left the watch sitting under a bright light for a day (24hrs) and it remained at low. I thought there was something wrong with the battery so I sent it to warranty repair. They said there was nothing wrong and that it was indeed fully charged. They 'adjusted' the dials and sent the watch back.

It worked for about a week or so before it started pointing to 'low' again. I suspect it has to do with me changing time zones - I travel a few times a month and wind up in different time zones, which is the main reason I got this watch. It allows me to switch time zones fairly easily. Seems like a 'hardware bug' of some sort? Contemplating sending it back again, but not sure if this is something they could fix.

    -------------------------------
I travel and need a watch that can handle multiple time zones. It's un-intuitive how to manage different time zones, but once you figure it out, it becomes a 5-10 second procedure to switch time zones. However, if you are travelling across more than 2 time zones and need to manage multiple, that gets a bit more complicated. The watch itself looks great on my wrist and I like the solar charging features and many of the other cool tech in this watch. Downside is the learning curve - I recommend downloading the PDF manual to your smartphone and keeping it handy for reference.
