Pros: Affordable, small, overall descent camera

Even though I haven't tried "anti shake" feature on this camera I wouldn't recommend using it as it is electronic based and will have impact on picture's resolution.

Last, I would suggest reading the full manual on the CD (142 pages) to learn how to take good pictures in different conditions and how to use advanced features and functions available on this camera.

Pros: Affordable, small, overall descent camera
Cons: Not super high quality build and only descent pictures not great

I'm a professional photographer and do not expect this to act like my pro gear but I also have been shooting with a Canon SD1000 which is the 3rd or 4th Canon Digital Elph I have owned so I'm comparing to my experience with those other little point and shoots.

The Casio is small, feels good in the hand, and takes a fairly descent 10 MP shot. I do like the dedicated video button and the fact that shooting in wide mode adds pixels to the sides instead of chopping off pixels on the top and bottom. The controls are simple and there are quite a lot of settings and customization options. Overall it takes a pretty descent picture. So there are a lot of cameras out there that can claim this. So lets get to some of my gripes that other descent cameras might not have.

The autofocus is kind of slow and sometimes will not even lock in so the picture won't take making you miss your opportunity. Even still when it does lock in it seems to be locking into the wrong spot because about 30% of my pictures aren't in focus where I want them to be.

The flash flashes twice (even with Red Eye not activated). This causes a considerable lag between pressing the button and the picture actually being taken. So 1, 2, 3 cheese and it takes on 4 instead of 3.

The auto adjustment in exposure is also slow so locking in a good exposure is a slow task. There are some good settings for how the exposure is calculated which allows me to control this better since I know what I am doing but I had to customize the settings which I don't think most average consumers are going to do.

It has a micro USB connection which adds a cable to my collection since my other devices don't use it but rather a mini USB connection. Likewise the charger is small but it has a considerably big electrical cable to go with it. These things lessen the portability of the camera. The canon's charger was tiny and the electrical plug twisted out of the charger itself (no cable).

I cannot zoom when I am videoing.

One of my biggest gripes is the camera doesn't seem to recognize when I am shooting in portrait mode (turned sideways for a tall picture) so I have to manually rotate all of my pictures in my computer. My canon did this automatically.

Conclusion: It is a cheap fairly descent camera but would be so much better if lots of the picture taking parts were faster, more pictures were in focus, and the details like cables and auto picture rotation were better.

I would not buy this camera again but I will continue to use it since it was given to me as a gift and I have it to use.

1.0 out of 5 stars Warranty doesn't cover the body of the camera., December 1, 2009
By
I purchased this camera from Circuit City before it went out of business. After a few months the door that holds the SD card broke. It is only held together with flimsy little pieces of plastic. We sent the camera and plastic parts back to Casio and they said "Sorry, the warranty doesn't cover the case, only the inner working parts." So, be careful to look at warranty info. You can find it online. I have 2 Nikon Coolpix cameras, one of which I dropped and damaged the lens. Nikon fixed the camera under warranty and gave great customer service. I would recommend paying a little more and not buying a Casio. You get what you pay for.

Bought this Camera for my 9-year old daughter and she has thoroughly enjoyed it. It is easy to use - point and click. There is a button to take the pictures, view the pictures or take video. It has a nice display screen on the camera and when downloaded they are just as nice. It is small and compact and fits in her little purses. I would recommend it for anyone looking for a camera for a young one that is not too much of an investment or if you just want a 2nd camera that you can take anywhere.

This camera more than sitisfied my expectations. Now you can film video without having to enter the menu, and having to go back and forth between pictures and video. Besides it's lighter than it's predecesor. It's rechargeable lithium battery is great. I'm a very satisfied owner.

I was looking for a couple of cameras for my niece and nephew. I have owned a Casio before and really enjoyed most things about it. When I received this camera and the other (different color) I took lots of pictures and used the movie mode to test the quality.
The pictures appeared very washed out so I lowered the flash intensity but the same thing happened except that everything around the object I was focusing on was darker. Also all of the pictures I took came out slightly grainy.
The movie mode worked well but when I reviewed the message I recorded for my niece I could barely hear what I had said. I turned the sound up as far as it would go, even in the menu section but the sound is very weak!
The exact same thing happened with the other Casio I bought.
If your looking for an inexpensive camera that is so-so all around this may work for you.

3.0 out of 5 stars good enough entry level compact digital camera, January 17, 2010

This was a Christmas gift for my 14 year old son and he takes it anywhere he goes.
I love that it is compact and user friendly, although picture quality is not as good as our compact canon camera (forgot the model number but had it for years), it's definitely a good buy for the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Pleased, January 7, 2010

Bought as a gift for my wife. She has a larger camera with a strong telephoto lens which she is happy with but wanted the pocket mobility of a small camera.
After much reading I decided on this little gem. How they get so much quality in such a small package is truly remarkable.

2.0 out of 5 stars LOUSY for closer than 4' shooting distance. Don't waste your money, January 3, 2012
I use this camera model every day at my job, where I create product listings for a professional online retailer on a big-name auction website. I use it to take pictures of the products I am selling, so I mainly use it for a very close range (1' - 4' maximum distance.) I love my job, but this camera is absolutely the bane of my existence. I HATE it. It makes my job twice as frustrating, and every listing I create takes me twice as long because of this lousy piece of junk.

This camera takes excellent pictures.... of the background. Everything that is further than a 5' distance will be crisp and perfectly in focus. But close-ups are spotty at best. The autofocus is horrid. You can change the settings, the lighting, the location, your angle, what you're focusing on, but none of it seems to matter. If you are in a close shooting range, only parts of your picture will be in focus and everything else around the edges will be fuzzy. I have to point the autofocus guide (the little green square on the viewer) at lettering or a sharply contrasted edge before it will focus enough to snap a picture, and even then usually the edges of the photo will be blurry. All of the pictures of my products look shoddy and unprofessional, all because of this stupid camera.

TL;DR - Use this to take pictures of stuff that is 5' or more away from you. If you need close-ups or detail shots, save your money and buy a different camera.
