Product Description

Casio

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

4/5: Almost perfect. Better than any $10 watch you'll find at Wally-World or swap meet.

PROS: Perfect watch for hiking/outdoor sports/rough work conditions. Cheap enough that you won't care if it is scratched up or damaged, but has all the functions you need for an afternoon out. Stopwatch, 5 alarms, countdown, dual time zone. Backlight is bright, green-ish led from bottom left corner is good. This has the most variety of alarm functions I've ever seen. Sits very flush.

CONS: Only complaint is tht the buttons protrude a little too far. Good for easy pushing, but can also get inadvertantly pressed. Haven't had the time change on me, but have had random changes from 12hr to 24hr format. Once turned on the alarm on accident. Since the defalt alarm time is midnight, I had a rude awakening. My easy solution was to set all the alarm default to the time I end work. So if it goes off I just get a heads up to dig out. :)

I have A.D.D. and this watch is a dream come true. No, I didn't just lose my train of thought.

I bought this watch based on a hint from one reviewer that it has an auto-restart timer. That's right, it would be for us A.D.D. folk to notice when time is passing us by, because, believe it or not, that is what happens (for all you non-A.D.D. strangers).

Well, I'm happy to report that the rumor was TRUE. This thing DOES HAVE AN AUTO-RESTART TIMER. So, you can set it to beep at every however-many-minutes you think would be a good interval to remind you to refocus your attention on your original goal, since it seems that attention is key for probably 90% of human activities.

There is a down-side, although I won't reduce my rating because of it, since auto-restart timer is a VERY EXPENSIVE feature if you shop around. The only problem I've found is that setting time, timers, alarms, etc. is a bit of a hassle because this watch CAN ONLY COUNT UP. So, if you want to set an alarm for 7 AM and you accidentally scroll by and land on 8AM, you'll have to go back all the way around again and be more careful this time.

OTHERWISE, AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!! and it looks great too ;-D

    Very low price
    Casio reliability
    10 year battery
    5 independent alarms
    Full set of functions
Countdown has REPEAT function, first I have seen of this feature

    -
Settings only have + and have to wrap around the end to get smaller numbers, eg. 60min. or 24hrs., kind of a pain.
Only WR, doesn't say WR to 50m

If cost is the most important consideration this is probably the best watch to get. Personally I'd spend an extra $5 and get something like the "Casio Men's DB36-1AV Multilingual Databank Watch" which is much easier to set. Only downside of that watch might be some buttons are on the front which some may not like.

The watch buttons are easily "bumped" during normal day-to-day activities, unintentionally changing the readout from 12-hour time, to military time, to stop watch...you get the idea. Pressing the right combination of buttons returns it to the 12-hour time readout, but it's still a bit annoying.

Mine doesn't seem to be keeping exact time, but I am not sure if that is the watch, or the unintentional pressing of buttons, when I bend my wrist.

For these two reasons, I give it three stars

Either way, if you need an exact time-piece, that you can always read at a glance, this is not the watch for you.

I just use it to get a general time of day, while backpacking, so for me, it's pretty casual, and satisfies my needs.

UPDATE: Keeps time fine. Less likely to change settings, if I wear it on the bottom side of my wrist, where it's less likely to get pinched between my hand and my forearm.

I got this watch to replace my old Casio Men's W800H-1AV Classic Digital Sport Watch, and I thought this was just an updated version of that watch with basically more features. It is very similar but it does have a smaller screen size and slightly harder to read. I dont understand why they dont make the screen bigger since the body size of the watch is the same. However, its still easy to read and I really like the 5 alarms, especially the countdown function. I am left handed, and dont have any of the accidental button pushing problems that another reviewer noted. (I wear it on my right hand). Its water resistant and claims to have a 10-year battery life. It has a dual time function as well. The backlight is satisfactory but only stays on for 2-3 seconds which is slightly short. Casio claims to have a warranty on their watches but its a joke since shipping is almost the cost of the watch and I dont think the band is covered. Overall, this is a great watch with plenty of features and i'm happy with it.

I was looking for an inexpensive watch with specific settings, and I got what I paid for. It seems like a good watch, though I will admit that the wrist strap seems to be made with rather flimsy materials. The other problem is that it doesn't take a whole lot of pressure to push the buttons. I find that when I go to check the time, about 5 out of 10 times it will no longer be on the time, but I will find it on the timer or alarm because my sleeve pushed the mode button.

All in all I recommend this for kids because it's easy to use and their smaller hands mean less force behind their fingers; but not for adults with an active life style and/or work environment.
