I had other G-shock watches before, but now my skin reacts to the rubber watch band. The nylon mesh band is great, with the velcro adjustment, it was very comfortable. I like the Casio for its ruggedness and the solar power is a great bonus. I went snorkeling with this watch, only about 15ft., but it worked fine, I didn't need to turn on the backlight. The backlight works pretty well low light and dark rooms. The only negative thing about the watch, are the buttons. You need to push them pretty hard to get the function you want. But you get used to it.

I received the watch a week ago. Very easy to set and use. The band can be a little scratchy. I had to adjust the band to be very loose to keep it from being uncomfortable. I like all of the features and most of all how easy it is to use. Read the instructions once and you can figure it out. Very well done.

I've owned casio watches since day one. I'm 55 years old. They are the most indistructable watches ever made. I'm a cabinet, displayer maker for a large corp. The watches are never off my wrist, even while in the pool and in the shower. Not one has ever failed to work. I can't tell you how many I've owned. I only buy new ones for a change. The data style lets you store important phone numbers, I'm forgetful and theres too many numbers. If you don't like big bold watches, this one is not for you. I will never own a different watch, not even rolex.

i love this watch because of the velcro band. I have this watch in the classic addition and bought this one because it is solar powered. I love this watch because of the band. It makes the watch look tougher, stronger and bulkier. Everyone who sees it likes too. this watch is tough, rough and unique. I collect g-shocks and happy that i added this one to my collection.

casio G-shock watches a made to last years & years especially if looked after i think people should be made aware that the tough solar can last along time the battery how ever will still need to be changed at least once every 5 years or on the third year what happends is that when you press the back light button if you see the display time fade that means a new battery needs replaceing type ML-2016 SANYO OR MAXELL rechargeble i own 2 of these stunning watches the first one i bought i had for nearly six years then i replaced the battery because i started to notice the time would start to fade when ever i pressed the back ligt button the second watch i just bought recently here on amazon. this watch would have to be the best out of the tough solar series along with the casio frogman what i love about these watchess it has 200 meteres water proof 30 page data storage 5 alarms shock resistent .the price is so amazengly low for a beautiful watch packed with so many features anyone looking to buy a casio G-shock wanting tough solar i would highly reccomend the tough solar G2300B-1V because you get so many features for a very low price. & if you want somthing a bit more pricey go for the miltary frogaman another tough solar in the casio series. happy shopping *****

I eagerly purchased this watch having owned one of the original G-Shocks for over 15 years (it still works btw) thinking that I would just update my timepiece. I thought that the nylon band would be nice for summer use and that the fact that it was solar would be nice because of the environmentalist in me tends to enjoy a smaller "foot print". And ALL of this came true...in the first year. It worked great. I wore it daily in all kinds of situations, in the pool, working in the yard etc etc. Nary a hiccup.

Now that I have had the watch for more than one year I have to say that I am gravely disappointed. The nylon band has failed from the standpoint that the velcro (hook and loop straps) no longer hold and it will not stay on my wrist. The catch for the band does not help the situation because it is too stretched out to hold the remaining material. So first and foremost the thing won't stay on my wrist anymore. To fix this I decided to purchase another band for it. This time using a resin band thinking "the watch still works, might as well keep using it".

Now, the watch doesn't work. Every time I come in from outside (or if it is overcast outside) the watch fails to charge the battery and the screen goes blank. Now, that shouldn't be a problem, as indicated in the manual, it is just sleeping to conserve energy. What is a problem though, is the fact that the watch resets back to the year 2000 and 12 o'clock. So I have to keep reseting the time. And forget about storing information in it. I have a phone for that anyway. The bottom line is that this watch does nothing to preserve the image of infallibility when it comes to G-shocks.

Perhaps if I lived in Florida where the sun shines 24/7/365 (at least that is what my sister says) I might have had better luck with the watch itself lasting a bit longer. However, that says nothing about the nylon band. The band seems to be a good idea which didn't translate successfully to the real world. If you are in the market for a G-shock watch...I would suggest going along the lines of traditional battery operated device with a resin band. As I stated before I have had one for over 15 years and can still depend upon it for my daily needs. My personal watch is the DW6600C-1V. It is priced in the middle of the pack and for longevity in my opinion you can't beat it.

Comfortable. Very accurate. Has gained about 14 seconds in the 14 months I've owned the watch.

Haven't exposed it to water or harsh conditions but previous G-Shocks have handled outdoor conditions well.

Annoying that the 5-segment battery charge indicator never gets above 4 segments. However, watch only drops to three segments every 6-8 weeks and recharges to 4 segments within an hour.

Won't fit under most of my dress shirts. Otherwise, I'd wear it even more often.

I did a lot of searching for a watch to wear every day. I have some expensive watches that I try not to wear to work to preserve them. I liked the idea of the G-Shock but I found there were too many combinations and I could'nt decide on a model. After a lot of thought it came down to two thigs for me. The strap style band and the least amount of gadgets. At work, I dont need to know the altitue or which was north is from my desk, or the barometric pressure. All of these things and more are usefull to some people but not me. I love this watch for its simplicicty, size and looks. Buckle style bands never seem to fall in the correct hole for my wrist size, they are either too tight or too loose and I didn't want another stainless band this time. No regrets at all.

I bought this watch with two objectives in mind: surfing and swim training with the watch. After looking and comparing many different G-shocks, as well as others from timex, nixon, freestyle, rip curl, etc., they just simply didn't compare when it came to pricing. This is a really solid watch with simple no frills functions. The velcro wristband is a huge plus for me due to it's great water resistance and is better suited to take on the damaging effects of saltwater and chlorine, as well as it's great ability to be thoroughly rinsed after use. When it came down to decision making on the purchase, I just couldn't pass up the years of trust and reputation that the G-shock brand has earned, specially when comparing to other brands that have way less years of performance under their belt, yet where 2-4 times as expensive. This watch is a great purchase.

Mine arrived yesterday. Info is easy to read, simple to set, the band is very comfortable. Time will tell about the nylon band's durability. This is my first solar-powered watch. I was concerned about it losing a charge, but I left it on last night & this morning it's fine. The backlight is excellent & buttons are not difficult to operate. Three issues: I'd rather the current time still be displayed while I'm using the stopwatch feature like my previous G-Shock. The day-of-the-week display is a different color than the time & darker & not as easy to read. Casio's customer service stinks. I contacted them about the loop that keeps the velcro band from coming off. It was too loose & caused the watch to fall off a few times. Casio's reply? "Buy a new band."
