After a lifetime of black or metal scuba and combat style watches I decided to give this model a try.

This is hands down the nicest looking watch I've ever owned, very classy.

First time I wore it to the gym, I could tell it was noticed and it's been complemented several times during day wear.

I was worried that white would look girlish... this thing looks as girlish as an M1 Abrams battle tank camouflaged white for the winter snow.

The blue numbering and hands look great on the white background and are soothing on the eyes.

The wide double-holed band adds to it's muscularity.

I'm a big guy with a large wrist and am only two notches to the end of the strap, so if you have a monster wrist you may be disappointed.

On the other hand, my petite girlfriend tried it on an it looked amazing on her and the band was could be adjusted to fit her her perfectly, so I'm ordering one for her also.

I've also got white skin since I'm not a big fan of sun exposure and it still stands out, if you have a darker complexion this watch will really pop.

And for such a big watch, it's very light.

One note of caution, for what I've read long sleeve darkly dyed cotton shirts will stain this watch as well as if you rub it against blue jeans.

The finish is glossy, not matte so normal dirt wipes right off.

The time keeping is very accurate and the other functions like stopwatch, alarm and countdown time, etc. are a bonus.

I've owned several of Casio watches and have never had one that wasn't accurate.

As a gift or for yourself even if you're a girl this watch will not disappoint.

I'll start with the positives:

It's straight-up BEAUTIFUL. This is my first watch purchase that was above the $25 Wal-Mart threshold and I don't regret it for a second. I'm in love with its engineering beauty and its durable materials. The features are great (even if I don't plan on using the extra two dials). The face of the watch is exactly as described: X Large. It dwarfs my old geeky calculator watch, and I feel like I'm wearing a behemoth on my little wrist. The red and black provide a rather appealing contrast and I'm glad I purchased this over the all-black model. I'm sure it'll be attracting a lot of looks once I go back into schooling.

Now for the bad:
The LED Backlight is TERRIBLE. One pro my old watches had: a blue LED backlight option. It illuminated the entire display and checking the time was no problem.
This watch however, uses a yellow LED lighting option, and the lighting shines from the bottom of the display, thus causing shadowing all throughout the interior. This makes the digital display difficult to read (and I personally HATE yellow lighting), so you have to depend on mostly the analog hands in dark situations.

Overall: If the lighting con does not bother you, this watch is a solid purchase.
From a past reviewer it seems the White option is a little better for low-light situations, and it's obvious the Black model is great for low-lighting with its white digits in front of a black background.

I ordered Gshock GA 100-1A4 as a gift for my wedding anniversary.I had searched high and low for this particular model and then decided to buy through Amazon.I was really excited to receive this watch on the estimated delivery date.Imagine my disappointment for all the preparation I had done for this when I received a totally different watch!!!

So I had placed a nagative feedback on the seller,AYW Watches LLC -Jakes Watches(third party seller).Three weeks back,I received a very unapologetic mail from Jakes Watches saying that Amazon had fulfilled this wrongly and belittled this by calling this a small mistake due to a small digit.As a service recovery,the seller promised me a refund for the blunder done!I was asked to remove the negative feedback by the seller. It has been 2 weeks since the seller has claimed to have sent the refund, I still havent received it. The seller does not even respond to my mails now. This is cheating!
When I called up Amazon customer service, they conveniently washed off their hands saying it was an amazon product and the service recovery was not promised by Amazon and they gave me the most inconvenient promotion.
My husband loves the watch but this experience has totally stopped me from buying anything though Amazon and especially Jakes Watches.

Beware of Jakes Watches!!!!

Elegant strong beautifull all purpose clock , no wonder is so dificult to find.
In Europa the price is 300 usd, ¿ do I need to say moré ?

It is a no brainer

This watch has tow major flaws;
The hour hand is dark red, the watch face is BLACK ,you cannot tell time with this watch unless you are in day light. Why the hour hand is not white as the minute hand is beyond me. A dark red hour hand on a black back ground? I tried the indigo light, still cannot see the watch face or hour hand at dusk or night. The watch is incredibly difficult to program. I spent two hours trying to get the date Back to today, unfortunately it is set for tommorow. As for the other settings, I gave up. Had I known any of this , especially the hour hand and watch face, I would not have purchased this watch. I'm tempted to send an E-mail to Casio, although I doubt they would care. If you want a watch for daytime only, this is the watch for you, otherwise stay away from it.

I got this watch for Christmas '10. I own four other G-Shocks (DW-5600E, GW-500A, G-7700, G-8000) so I know about the style, reliability, and durability of these watches. What I didn't know about this GA-100 is that IT CAN MEASURE SPEED!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it when I read the manual to find out all its features. It has a mode wherein you enter a given distance (like a speed trap) and measure how fast it takes an object to go that given distance. It will then tell you on the small dial in the middle of the watch how fast that object was going!!!!!!!!!!!! I see no practical use for this (unless you're a police officer lol) but it's cool anyhow. I will agree with another reviewer about how poor the back-lighting is, but thats it!! This is a nice addition to my growing G-Shock collection!!!

This watch is massive, and it is extremely comfortable and beautifully crafted. The looks of this watch are one of a kind, but aside from that there is quite some horsepower under the hood. The most unique part of this watch is the "speed calculator". Input the distance u are traveling, hit the stop watch, and it will tell you ur average speed. It is accurate too, never seen this feature in any other watch...

Be prepared to show it off and chat it up, this thing is WHITE HOT and people will notice. It's a bargain @ $99 elsewhere too...

I almost forgot, the auto led light is awesome, and in a pinch will help u find a light switch or anything else in the dark...

After purchasing this watch I realized that the RED hour hand is virtually unreadable in anything other than bright daylight conditions. Also, the backlight feature is inadequate to allow proper viewing in low light or dark conditions.
RED is the first color in the spectrum that disappears in low light conditions. Why they would choose to make the hour hand any other color than white (against a black background) is a mystery to me. And, if they WERE going to change the color, why dark red?

Also, the programming for the Auto Time Zone Adjustment is not up to date with the "new" dates by which countries are changing from Standard Time to Daylight Savings Time. A whizz-bang feature that is simply too complicated to be effective. Should have simply left it for manual time/date adjustment.

If I were to guess, i would say that this particular model watch went from idea stage straight to production and was never field tested. Just my opinion. However I know of 3 other people myself who purchased this watch and had the same observations.

On the surface this watch looks great. As far as application goes, it's just sitting in the back of my drawer

I collect watches, I have number of Casios, and this watch, which is my newest, is sure to be one of my favorites. It is large, but a real classy watch with an interesting face that sets it apart from all the others I have. The coloring is distinctive, sure to make people notice it. I hope that you will like it as much as I do.

I bought this watch for my son on his birthday, (his request). It has a large face and it's a casio. Just what he wanted. I recommend it. Casio is tough as nails.
