I bought this a few months ago for my husband, to use as a work watch. His job is highway construction, and he is VERY rough on his watches...he typically goes through a couple a year. Normally the crystals of the watch crack quickly, he breaks the band, or busts off the stem.

So far, this watch is holding up impeccably well...and it still looks new, with one small exception. The black 'crystal protector' (not sure what you call that thing), is slightly scratched. But he did that by abusing it at work.

Update: After 2 1/2 years of VERY heavy usage, the band of the watch finally broke. I am amazed that it lasted so long, since as mentioned above, my husband is notoriously hard on his work watches. I ordered the exact watch for him again, since we were so pleased with the original purchase.

I wanted an inexpensive watch that I didn't have to worry about getting trashed. This watch is certainy inexpensive and works reasonably well.


Upside: cheap, but doesn't look cheap. Luminous dial. Second hand.

Downside: strap is barely long enough for my wrist. Hour hand is very hard to find, especially in low light situations. The strap will surely not last long.


Summary: hey, it's a ten dollar watch, great watch for the money.

Excellent watch for any environment. Trust me, for the money this is the best work watch you can buy.

Looking for a simple , plain but kool watch. This fit the bill. I have some very kool watches, expensive, scuba and collectibles from family. This watch fit me. A great face, durable and sporty looking for everyday. Yes the hour hand is dark and hard to read in low light. Very durable. And the band lasts. Only the band that holds the watch band after you thread it may break. That happens on all rubber bands . Unless you've got a expensive scuba band. I use a micro hair band to hold the band. I like classic Hamiltons, this fits my personality and is plain, and tough looking and tough going. I like it.

The bent wire crystal protector is a well intentioned but ultimately poorly designed feature. I wore it for one day only, and the paint already started to scratch off. Even worse, the wire wraps underneath the face, and it irritated the round bone that bumps out from my wrist. Fortunately, the wire is removable, and I did remove it after the first day of use.

It's a decent cheapo work watch. No battery, but that will keep the battery running longer (they claim 10 years). Good styling, and isn't as gaudy as the g-shock models. The face numbers are easy to read and the minute increments are spaced well and easy to read for timing things. The hour hand is a bit harder to find due being small and red, but I think it adds to the styling.

This is an awesome little watch, it's discreet, sleek, and seems to be pretty tough. All in all a good looking casual watch. Would have liked to have seen a full size picture of the watch before ordering. Shipping was very quick, arrived sooner than expected.

I had a similar watch as a child, wore it until one of the edges broke holding the strap pins. Watch still functions, though I cannot wear it on my wrist. So I bought another one after several Timex Expedition failures.

This watch is a very bad version of that older one:
- cheaper, lightweight, soon to break plastic
- impossible to read the hour hand except in full sunlight
- second hand is for some reason very boldly defined, though it is an unnecessary function
- flourescent glow in the dark areas do not last more then a couple hours, and hard to read even when just immersed in light.
- no date function

the good:
- cheap cheap cheap
- does have the wire protector that I remember from my youth
- light and comfortable

I think it might be worth it to disassemble the unit and paint the hour hand bright orange or yellow, and see how that goes.

Just got this thing today. It gets 1 star only because they won't let me give it no stars. This watch should come with an attached flashlight. It has no internal light and is impossible to tell what time it is at night by the glow in the dark hands, as only the minute hand glows. What modern watch doesn't have a light? This thing is crap, its on its way back Monday morning. Maybe add a better description instead of going onand on about the history of Casio watches.
