4.0 out of 5 stars Overpriced, but Excelent!!!
If you could (and you can) find this label printer for about half the price, it's well worth it. This is a great little USB lable printer that takes up very little space. Though I find the mouse pad portion useless and small, it can be removed. I agree with the other reviews, the software is limited, but the hardware is great. You can print from 6mm to 18mm tapes...

Compared to comparable label printers this unit is a bargain at [$$$]The product concept of combining a hard plastic Mouse Pad and a Label Printer is STRANGE to say the least. But fortunately you can remove the useless mousepad.

Software is also quirky (you are advised to download the latest software FA-B30 from the Casio website which does support XP)

In it's default state after the software is installed it takes over the right mouse click context menu so that you can print
make labels out of whatever text that is currently selected instead of the normal right context menu for the application. (I'm not sure why they did not just add this function to the existing menu instead of taking over) - This feature can be disabled by properties.

The software is actually quite friendly in many ways, it shows the preview of the labels being printed, there are some pre defined BMP images that can be inserted to the labels, it even allows you to caputure a part of screen and insert it to the labels. The user interface is not very intuitive but I'm not complaining at this price.

All in all this is a useful printer at a bargain price

4.0 out of 5 stars Great product at a very low price, January 7, 2004
By A Customer

1. Got it at Fry's for only 14.99
2. It is overpriced at Amazon.com around $28.
3. It is cheap because Casio is only giving you
the printer and a USB cable. It costs Casio more to
manufacture the input keyboard associated with the
label printer.

Good product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little Printer, July 12, 2010
This review is from: Casio KL-P1000-L Mouse Pad Label Printer (Office Product)
I purchased this item a few years ago when it was on clearance for $10.00. Best $10 I ever spent allows me to label everything in the office from disks to files. Something that is not mentioned is that it will use any font that you have installed in your computer. Great item

4.0 out of 5 stars Great bargain, August 19, 2007

I bought this few years ago on clearance at Staples for under ten bucks. It has been working great, initially with W98SE and now with XP. I agree with other reviewers on the right click submenu issue, which can be disabled, and the relatively useless mouse pad. The tapes are relatively cheap (but more than the printer) and you have several options in size and color. The software is OK. If all you want is to print labels from your PC keyboard without going through batteries, this is a great little gadget if you find it at a cheap price. I might upgrade to a Brother and sell mine soon.

This has been a great cut and print label maker. The only irritating part being the normal right mouse key function of cutting and pasting are disabled as long as the Casio drivers are active.

2.0 out of 5 stars Limited use, February 16, 2001

You can print text by highlighting. However you cannot set it up as a standard printer. If you want to intergrate into your applications, you're limited to selected text and printing it. I have an Avery Label printer which can be setup as a standard printer via the com port.

A definite do not buy. There are too many limitations and not enough capability as compared to others. I purchased one, then had to buy another model to get the service desired.
