5.0 out of 5 stars Great for Moms!!!
I have had several of these watches and they are the greatest. My favorite feature is the countdown timer. It is the easiest to use and useful for so many things. 3.0 out of 5 stars looking for the timer funtion, but...
I found that the countdown timer only does certain preset times - 1,3,5,10,15,20,30 minutes. I needed a 14 and a 25 minute timer, neither of which are options. The watch was a nice size (I'm trying to replace a big clunky sports watch), but the timer function was not what I needed it to be.

I have had several of these watches and they are the greatest. My favorite feature is the countdown timer. It is the easiest to use and useful for so many things. Under the Casio name are small numbers 1,3,5,10,15,20,30. To set it you push the top right button once for each (i.e. once for 1 minute, twice for 3 minutes, etc.,,and to cancel it just push once more when it is set on 30). I use it to challenge my kids (and myself) to stay on a task, and also to remind me to check up on them. Great for Attention deficit problems. The hourly chime and alarm and stopwatch features are also great. Hourly to remind to check in with God or whatever. Alarm to remember afternoon medication. Stopwatch to know how long you've been on a task or exercising, etc. The kids often ask me to set my countdown timer for them. I don't even have to look at it to set it. I just remember the #'s and think 1,3,5,10,15,20,30 as I hear the beeps when I push the button. The watch is small and comfortable and I wear it everywhere. Nice that it is water resistant too, no worries doing dishes or washing the car, but I wouldn't recommend swimming with it on. One caution is when you get the battery replaced (and that won't be often because it lasts a long time), make sure the tech knows the AM/PM of the alarm might reverse, and don't leave until you're sure it's right (Set it for a couple minutes past your current time and see if it goes off, if not it is reversed). Maybe the battery has to be put in and taken out and put in again to set it right. I don't know but twice I had that problem when I had a new battery put in. I love this watch though. Great price too. Highly recommended!

This watch is great because the countdown is so easy to use. Whenever I need to remember to check the dryer or the stove, all I have to do is push one button to the number of minutes I want to wait. Its the only watch I wear and I never take it off. I even swim with it on. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is because it is so plain. I wish Casio would make it in a pretty color.

I've had this watch for years....it's a great timepiece. I love the countdown feature...very handy and easy to use. The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is that there is no light on it. I am ordering another one just in case they ever stop making them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for beginning runners, August 2, 2006
This review is from: CASIO LA11WB-1 Ladies Watch (Electronics)
The single-button controlled countdown function with alarm is the reason that I purchased this watch. I believe this feature is unique. This allows you to time an interval by pressing a button, without having to look at the watch. If you press the button once it counts down from 1 minute, if you press it twice from 3 mins, three times from 5 mins and so on up to 30 mins. These times are preset. This is great for beginning runners who may time intervals of walking and running.

5.0 out of 5 stars best digital watch ever, May 20, 2007
By
This review is from: CASIO LA11WB-1 Ladies Watch (Electronics)
As soon as I lost my first watch of this type, and ordered a new one. It's small and unobtrusive but has plenty of easy to use functions: an alarm clock, an optional hourly beep, the date and say, a stop watch (I use it to time my running), and my favorite feature, a timer. It will count down from 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, or 30 minute times and will beep for a couple seconds. This is great when I'm cooking or baking, because I can set the timer and go into other rooms and not worry about missing the beep.
The three buttons are also really easy to use; I didn't even need the instruction booklet.
The only drawback I can think of is that the plastic band sometimes gets a little sweaty/sticky is it's hot out.

I've been using the same kind of watch for about 15 years, and it's hard to find in stores but I can always find it reasonably priced on Amazon. How dare you use the Tag Suggestion of "ugly watch blue trim." It's a cute, simple watch, nothing fancy. Not even a light. I love it. I bought this one for my mom because she's hooked on the same kind of watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very handy, March 20, 2007

This watch is very easy and fun to use!

Some features not listed in specs or previous reviews: water resistant to 30 meters, calendar, stopwatch, one daily alarm, an hourly time signal. The package mine came in claims a 10-year battery life. [Update: it needed a new battery after 2 1/2 years.]

I'm a plus-sized lady (2X), and sometimes regular ladies watch bands don't fit my wrist. I was wondering if I'd be able to wear this, and was pleasantly surprised. It's very comfortable even using the 3rd hole in.

I tend to lose track of time, and was looking forward to trying the hourly time signal. It's useful, but it's very high-pitched and quick, so if you're in a noisy store or restaurant, or driving in loud traffic, you may miss hearing it. I'm not sure if the countdown timer and alarm are louder, but the sound definitely lasts longer, so I've heard them every time.

[Update to my update: I'm finally replacing this watch after 4 years because of a problem with the strap. The little rectangular keeper broke, that prevents the end of the watchband from flapping around loose. I couldn't find just a keeper thingie, and the bands cost more than the complete watches do--so I've ordered another one. I can't complain because it ended up costing me about $4 per year of use.]

5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite watch of all time., March 15, 2007
This review is from: CASIO LA11WB-1 Ladies Watch (Electronics)
This watch is my favorite and has been for years. The countdown timer is the major feature I need. I use it in the morning (as Snooze alarm) or as a reminder to call someone back in 10 or 15 minutes. It is easy to set the timer. I have looked and other watches do not have this feature! Also I can swim in the watch. The only negative is that the band will wear out and break occasionally. After misuse it can need replacing. I have owned several and do recommend it 100%. It is cheap to replace if you damage it. I hope Casio keeps making this winner!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cooks will also love this countdown timer!, November 28, 2005
By

This watch is great for cooks, walkers, keeping house, shopping with my husband and being ready on time. The timer feature can simply not be found on any other watch. (Another reviewer mentioned Timex, but I haven't been able to find it.)

At first I was bummed that I couldn't light up the dial. After a while I realized there were clocks all around me -- I was just in the habit of punching a button on my watch! I could check the nightstand, for Pete's sake!

The countdown timer, explained by "Lamby" in another review, is the reason I buy this watch. In 3 or 5 minutes, my tea is steeped, my skillet is preheated, etc. My oven takes 15 minutes to preheat. Cookies need to be checked on after 10 minutes. And I can wander around the house with my timer right on my wrist. And the "beeping" is definitely less jarring to my household than the typical kitchen timer!!

How about those exercise routines where we jog (walk fast) this many minutes, walk this many minutes, back to jogging so many minutes, cool down this many minutes. INSANE routine without this watch!!!!

It's annoying to keep looking at a clock/watch while I'm getting ready in the morning. After my shower, I can quickly set this watch and leave myself 10 minutes to "wrap it up." (Where did I put my car keys?? Do I have everything I need to take with me??)

Finally, I hate housework, but I can get a lot done in 15 minutes. I can quickly set my watch and then get something done in any room I want: cleaning up the bathroom, mopping a floor, vacuuming, straightening up the living room. (A couple of times a day, the place looks decent all the time and the once-a-week "clean up the house" routine doesn't take hours!!)

My husband and I don't like to look for the same things in a department store. We split and meet up again in "predetermined minutes". 45 minutes? Set for 30, then set again for 15.

Really wish they would make this product with a metallic band. I've seen it in silver (for about 10 dollars more, which is fine) but would like a gold-tone for summer time wear. Years back, I could get this watch in white, but the dial and the band would fade to different shades. May be why I can't find it.

This watch was available about 10 years ago, and then for a few years we (sisters, mother, girlfriend) couldn't find them. It was a bummer, because that model would eventually just QUIT after a few years. Not even new batteries would revive it. A Casio dealer said that was why they weren't carrying them anymore. Now they are back!

If they have fixed the problem, great! If they haven't, even 2-3 years wear for a $11 watch with this countdown timer feature is a great deal!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One touch countdown timer, March 26, 2005
By
ECP (Atlanta, GA) - See all my reviews
I have continued to buy this particular watch for it's countdown feature and have owned at least 10 in the last 20 years, and have purchased it for gifts. I bought a Timex once with this feature but the setting was not as easy as this one touch. I use the countdown on a daily basis as a reminder for many things. I would truly be at a loss if Casio quit making this particular watch. The price at under $24.95 has always made this watch an outstanding value.
