The new Casio PRG260-1 is perfect for military aviation and those who do a lot of hiking. Solar, world time, alarms, timer, (ABC) -altitude, barometric pressure, compass, rotating bezel and 200 meter water resistance. The solar has stayed very well charged with normal operations. This watch at least for me is not excessively large. The nightlight is excellent and numbers are easily readable. You could not ask for more!

I already own several Casio Pathfinder/Protrek watches and did not hesitate to buy this new one from Amazon.com at a very reasonable price. This PRG 260-1 resin band watch basically has the same functions and display as the PRG 240 but with a new steel bezel. This minor 'upgrade' really change the look and feel of this watch. I also replaced the resin band with a titanium one and this becomes one of my favourite Casio Pathfinder/Protrek watch now. Great ABC watch!

Very much like the watch, especially for travel, for the following reasons:

Lightweight
Durable
Useful features - sun rise/set feature is very useful for photographers showing not just the times but also the bearings (adjustable by Lat/Long)
Reasonable price

Issue:

As another reviewer mentioned there are plastic tabs on each side underneath where the strap meets the watch, I found them very irritating. I removed them by unscrewing the watch strap and replacing them with small nylon washers, watch is much more comfortable.

Caution: as with any watch of this type learning to use all the features of this watch takes some time and review of the manual

Good quality timepiece by Casio. Bought it on a Daily Deal with 10 minutes left on the deal clock at a good price. Now I see it at the same price 5 days later w/o a Daily Deal! I thought those prices go back up after the clock runs out.....that's why I bought it.

Kinda bulky, resin band slippery after perspiration on wrist. Easy to read display, very functional.

very accurate, very reliable... everything and all the time. I wear it every day, even on semi-classic suits. i dont have very big hand/wrist and even i feel comfortable with it. it feels big only first hour then u get used to it quickly. very satisfied with this purchase. just buy, u wont be disappointed!

(p.s. it cannot measure temperature accurately when wearing on wrist. but that's ok, I knew that. also backlit only lasts max 3 secs - that's ok for me too)

edit 10 april, 2015: after having this watch a year and a half, i still love it and wear it a lot. it never went off from H mark (high battery charge), i would rarely put it on direct sunlight for charging though. it is very easy to clean: just wash under tap water and dry with cloth. Im thinking that after i had set this watch, 1.5 years ago, it only altred for 4 or 5 seconds from official time in my area. another casio watch, 10 times cheaper than this, also holds well in this regard. but this one's got tones of other features that come handy suddenly and you understand that you dont necessarily have to live in a tent and hike backcountry 24/7 to benefit from this watch - everyday activity will still make you appreciate it. this is my longest review, i am usually more laconic. but even from that you will get how much i've loved this watch more and more with time.

This Casio is a good quality built watch, but the features are basically kind of gimmickee. I did a lot of reading and comparing before I bought this and though I knew I wanted a Casio, they don't make a watch with all the features I was looking for and I had to settle between two models; the 2500 and this 260. I chose this 260 because it has the sunrise/sunset feature and it was cheaper for the same type of quality and durability. I specifically wanted an altimeter, barometer and compass style watch and I absolutely realize these aren't precision instruments. After finally making a choice and getting this PRG260 I am overall disappointed. The temp function needs to be off your wrist for about 20 minutes to be accurate which I find to be almost useless. Who is going to stand around for 20 minutes with the watch off to get an accurate temp reading? The compass is nice and seems like it works pretty well. I wouldn't try to use it to call in tight coordinates but if I needed it to locate a general area it would certainly do that. I've compared it to real compasses and it's got decent readings. The altimeter isn't accurate and may as well not even be a feature on this watch which is irritating because it's one of the reasons I got it to begin with. I set it specifically for my home location and nearly everyday it shows a significant difference in readings even when I am sitting in the very same spot where I set the watch up. It has fluctuated by more than 300 feet. For a $200 watch that claims accuracy within 20 ft with this feature to fluctuate like that.....not acceptable and basically useless. The barometer seems to work ok but it too has its accuracy issues. The weather stations in our area do not show the same barometer readings as my watch does but they aren't ridiculously different. The sunrise and sunset are just general predictions, not specific times. I can get better from a farmer's almanac. The backlight turns off when you are trying to press a button to see another feature/reading such as compass, barometer, altimeter.....how useful is a backlight that turns off when you turn it on to see a reading and to get the reading you touch another button which turns off the light? Kind of dumb in my opinion. Anyway.....I'm sadly disappointed because I was very excited to finally get this. I've worn it everyday for about a month and I am unimpressed. I've thought about how to return it and try another model or completely different brand. I love the looks of the watch, it's durable and wears nicely. But for what I bought it for, regular outdoor activities and specific features, I'm underwhelmed. I probably can't return it, so I will deal with it. But I wouldn't buy it again if given the chance. Casio needs to think things through because the hype on these things is a whole lot more than the performance as far as I'm concerned so far.

I bought this watch for my older dad who doesn't drive and has to use public transportation on a daily basis. He lives in a bad neighborhood, so I didn't want anything that looked too "fancy". I wanted a watch that would also help him find his way to the next bus stop, tell him the temperature, and not draw too much attention. This fits the bill perfectly. He can use every single feature in his daily life and I can rest easy knowing he isn't getting lost in his travels. The watch is sturdy, fits his large wrist perfectly, and he loves the design. I'm so glad I bought this watch for him. It's so useful and he absolutely loves it.

This was a birthday present and I could not be happier. The ABC features work great and I love the rotating bezel. The time display is crisp and readable. The band is on the larger side but fits fine. I was able to get my city set out of the box but found the instructions useful to set the watch to use Fahrenheit and will review them to get the most out of this watch. Having a smaller wrist this gives me a wearable watch with all the features I want without without the bulk, on my wrist, of a G-Shock. Great watch!

This was a gift for my husband. He wears it every day and uses a lot of the features. There are plenty of features, too, because he re-discovers ones he had forgotten about every once in a while. The watch is a bit bulky, but given all that it has on it, that's to be expected. This makes for a nice gift for anyone who participates in various sports, who hikes, and who just likes sports watches. I'd buy it again if I had someone to whom I could give it, so I guess that means that I recommend it!

Really like the watch, the functionality is great the main things that I would note are that the band is very stiff, however I know that over time the band should get a little less stiff, actually kind of makes my wrist sore after wearing all day. The other thing not real happy with is that the rotating bezel moves too easily, if actually trying to use this with the compass, could've an issue. The slightest bump will cause the rotating bezel to move. Other than that it is a cool time piece.
