I'm just saying it LOOKS nicer.

It actually separates, hinged at the far end, to become TWO long flexible links!

I get many complements on it and it looks great with a suit or jeans.

-The face of this watch is busy, but stunning. The pictures really don't capture it at all. In my opinion, it is the nicest looking face of the entire edifice-527 line, but i don't understand why they paired this one with a leather band. It looks absolutely spectacular on a stainless steel band. Far better than any of the 527s that come with metal bands. Go figure. You can find a nice stainless band for $40-$60. I paired it with an el-cheapo $18 stainless band, and it still looks way better than the leather band. It actually looks nicer than some of the Breitling Navitimers. (you know, the $5,000+ ones? Yes i know, it's not the same, or even in the same league. I'm just saying it LOOKS nicer. Don't get cranky.)

-People have expressed confusion with the leather band, especially the clasp. i am confused by their confusion. Maybe it's that they're just not expecting a clasp on a leather band, but while initially foreign, it takes about 15 seconds to figure it out. So don't let reports of funky clasps/bands dissuade you. it's really not as complicated or weird as some have claimed. I can't say too much about the quality of the leather band aside from that, as i immediately replaced it w a stainless steel bracelet ( BTW, some of the 527s have their lug measurement listed at 24mm. it's not. it is definitely 22mm.)

-The slide rule has the tiniest bit of play in it if you're heavy handed with the slide rule crown, but it's accurate, and all of the hash marks line up exactly. the font is on the small side, so as has been said, i wouldn't rely on this as an actual flight computer or for anything where you'd need to produce a figure under stress, or if you have trouble reading small print.

I bought this watch because of Casio reputation,. I own 3 G-Shock watches for years and they are still going. I wanted something different, with tachymeter, so I bought this one. Good looking, nice fit, wierd clasp on band but functional. Only thing is I would have liked to have is the "big" sweeping second hand vs. the "little" one below center of watch otherwise I like it and would recommend at this price.

My wife suggested it was time for a change. I was fine with the old watch I'd been wearing over 5 years--a nice Timex analog with compass--but she got me looking for a classic chronograph. I wondered if I could get one with the old slide rule bezel for under $100. Turns out I could! This Casio looked nice in pictures: classic analog with 3 dial insets, date, chronograph function AND slide rule. It made me anxious to see the real thing. When it arrived I was happily relieved. There are lots of glittery facets and, although I wanted a metal band, my wife was right about the leather adding some understated elegance.

    Pros:
All the features I wanted at good price.
Slide rule is cool, just like I used in pilot training. All the conversion markings are there, too.
    Crystal seems scratch resistant.
As long as the longevity is there, I'll be happy!

    Cons:
The slide rule markings are (unavoidably) SO small; I can barely make them out even with my magnifying readers.
Counter-intuitively, one of the small dials counts the seconds instead of the larger third-hand.
The phosphor dims in only a matter of minutes and is dark by the middle of the night when I'd need it most. Indiglo is King!
The buttons that activate/deactivate the chronograph (stopwatch) are a little sticky as others have mentioned.
The band clasp is a surprise. I was cursing, struggling to slide the tongue into the clasp and my aggressive attempts finally revealed the secret: the metal "tail" is NOT just there to frustrate your efforts! It actually separates, hinged at the far end, to become TWO long flexible links! This allows you to set the leather portion to the size of your liking.

Class. This watch looks more expensive than it really is, it looks great and when ever i wear it iti only get complements. However the clasp watch ban could be a bit annoying but by and large this is agreat watch.

This watch came recommended by a fellow pilot. For the money, it's hard to find a nicer watch. The wristband had me scratching my head for more than a few minutes, but once I figured it out (a forehead slapping moment, to be sure!), I love it! It has the look and feel of a nice leather wristband with the ease of a metal band for putting it on and taking it off.

It's accurate and great looking. What more could you want?

This watch is well worth the price. It has a quite large case/bezel (although it is thin), so if you don't like big watches this is not for you. I do not go crazy about big ones either, but I tolerate medium+ sizes. At first, I was a little skeptical when I saw it, then I got used to it.

It looks nice and well built. You have to consider that it costs less than $100, but it definitely looks like it could cost much more. The front is nicely built and good looking. From the side, it looks a little cheaper. It is also light enough.

The quadrant is kind of pretty. It looks like many other modern chronographs, with a rotating slide-rule. It's pretty. THE QUADRANT COULD JUST BE RECOGNIZED AS THAT OF A MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE CHRONO, LIKE BREITLING or others. I like it, and it costs 1/50th of the price of those ones.

I think it has a very good quality/price ratio. The leather bracelet is not of top-quality. If looks and feels OK/good, but it is not great quality. It is decent enough anyway. I won't change it for now.

The reviews of the other users about the MECHANISM of the bracelet are just ridiculous. They maybe did not understand how it works. It is AMAZING. Basically, it does not close as a usual leather bracelet. Instead, it works like a metal one. You have to understand that you have to pull one part to open the bracelet completely before putting in your hand, or just to adjust it, too. Once you have adjusted it, it is super comfortable, and it takes 1 second to take it off or put it on. It is really well designed and I love it. Much better than a traditional leather bracelet, at least for me. I believe other reviewers just did not understand that they had to pull to open it (I understand why this would happen as I was confused at first, too), and so they felt like it was almost impossible, or at least very very weird, to try and put your hand/wrist inside.

Good watch for the price. You can try it out.
