Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

If you use your phone line to connect to the Internet, you'll appreciate this phone's Modem Monitor Connection Protection. The TC920 can tell the difference between data and voice conversations and won't let a voice caller interrupt the data connection of a modem or fax machine.

The phone also features 900 MHz transmission and a digital message recording system, with voice prompts and time-day stamp, storing 20 minutes of messages. The phone claims to have "remote messaging," but in this case, that doesn't mean you can check messages from any phone, only that you can check messages from the cordless handset.

Many Casio phones have seven hours of talk time, but the TC9820 only has five hours of talk time with a seven-day standby. Those with sore necks will, however, appreciate the belt clip and headset included with the phone. Casio provides a one-year warranty.

1.0 out of 5 stars the TC-930 stinks!, February 10, 2001

This review is from: Casio TC920BKHS Black Cordless Phone with Digital Answer Machine & Headset (Office Product)
When it arrived, I was disappointed in how difficult it was to see the phone LCD display (no back light, no contrast control). I change the greetings remotely, and after about one month, this feature ceased to function. After going through the proper channels, which means many long distance phone calls to California, Casio approved returning it to them for repair. I shipped it back, and in only another five weeks, it came back. Now it does not work at all. After speaking to Casio again (more long distance calls to California), they are encouraging me to continue to unplug it and re-set it all weekend, and on Monday they might approve my returning it again.

Meanwhile, I have purchased a Uniden for less money, which works flawlessly.

I will NEVER purchase another Casio product; anyone can make a lemon, but it takes a truly bad company to fail to correct their mistakes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not a bad unit ..., January 11, 2001

I bought this unit to replace an aging Sanyo analog cordless phone that was starting to get too much static. The phone itself is relatively clear, though sometimes the volume is too low on the handset (if you increase it with the Vol buttons, you hear too much background hiss). A nice feature of the handset is that you can turn off the ringer to preserve battery life (only the base station will ring). The handset charges in the base and can face either forward or backward. There is no second dial pad on the base (only answering machine controls). The digital answering machine is nice: it will date/time stamp incoming messages and can store two different greetings. You can program your own PIN so you can check messages remotely. You can also selectively delete messages, or store them for later review. I only have two problems with this phone. 1) the handset is uncomfortable if you try to hold it between your shoulder and ear for too long (though it does have a headset jack and belt-clip), and 2) recently the phone started dying as soon as the "low battery" warning starts (so basically there is no low battery warning at all). I'm going to try replacing the rechargeable NiCads to see if that helps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very disappointed, August 25, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Casio TC920BKHS Black Cordless Phone with Digital Answer Machine & Headset (Office Product)
I have been very disappointed with my Casio phone experience. The first one I bought was returned in less than 30 days due to mal-function. I was given a second one. It lasted only a few months, working only fairly well. Now, it also has mal-functioned. I have contacted Casio's help line (after MUCH difficulty), only to be told to unplug it and see what happens. I followed instructions and it remained dead as a "door nail." I finally became completely disgusted, unpluged the phone and put it aside to be placed in the garbage. Now, I must buy a new phone and I can assure you that it will not be a Casio! Buyers beware!
