4.0 out of 5 stars How to resize the band....
Everything others have said is true and it is really BIG. To resize the band take a tack, place it against the smooth end of the pin (other end has a line where the two sides meet), tap the tack and the pin will move out the other side. It is best to place the band over something with a slot to enable the pin going out the other side.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice watch with wrong band
OK, LET ME SAY FIRST SOME NICE THING ABOUT THIS WATCH, IT HAS EVERYTHING THAT I WANTED IN A WATCH(YOU CAN READ ALL THE DESCRIPTION ON AMAZON). IT IS LIGHT ON MY WRIST, UNLIKE MY LAST WATCH SEIKO WHICH IT BOTHERED MY WRIST IF I HAD IT ON ALL DAY, THE REASON I WOULD GIVE 3 STARS RATHER THAN 5 IS MAINLY THE WRIST BAND, IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS MADE COMPLETELY OUT OF METAL, BUT I...

5.0 out of 5 stars The most accurate watch I have ever had, January 20, 2006
By
This review is from: Casio Men's VA430SGA-9A1V Waveceptor Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch because:

1. it uses light as a source of power;

2. it can synchronize with the atomic clock in Colorado automatically using radio wave;

3. it was on sale here for $63.5 shipped around 2005 X'mas. (I did have to pay ~$8 to have the watch band adjusted locally.)

I am completely satisfied with this watch so far. It was so accurate that I can tell whether my PC's clock is off.

It sync'ed with the atomic clock every night (I am in NJ), not a miss so far.

It's a bit thick, but the build quality is well worth the money I paid for.

Highly recommended (I recommended it to my brother already :-).

SO IF YOU HIT YOUR WATCH ON A SHARP OBJECT , LIKE I DID BY ACCIDENT THE PAINT CAME OFF OF IT AND THE PLASTIC COLOR UNDER IT LOOKS LIKE BLUISH, GREEN SHOWED UP , NOW WHAT CAN YOU DO NOW, IT DOES NOT LOOK PRETTY WITH PART LOOKS LIKE METAL AND PART SCRATCHED WITH BLUE COLOR ON IT, I CALLED CASIO AND SAID THIS WATCH IS UNDER WARRENTY IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX IT . THEIR REPLY WAS THAT PART IS PART OF THE WRIST BAND AND IT IS NOT COVERED BY THE WARRENTY. ALSO IT CAN NOT TAKEN OUT AND REPLACED. SO IF YOU WANT A NICE WATCH FOR JUST SPECIAL OCCASION THIS WATCH IS FINE JUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT ANYTHING SHARP

5.0 out of 5 stars No Worry Watch, February 4, 2006
This review is from: Casio Men's VA430SGA-9A1V Waveceptor Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
I bought this watch from Amazon in late December 2005. Of course, it arrived right away. I bought it because I liked the idea of owning a watch that would never need to have the batteries replaced or need to have the time set. It has most of the standard features of a digital watch -- time, day, date, stop watch, etc.

The watch looks good, very masculine. The watch face is fairly large, but I like it that way. It is not thin, but not overly thick either. I like the overall size.

The metal band is comfortable. The band is easy to adjust. All you need is a thumb tack to push out the metal connector rods. No special tool is required.

At first it didn't want to sync with the atomic time clock, but once I fully charged the watch by placing it near a window, it synced just fine.

So far, I love this watch.

5.0 out of 5 stars 8 month review, June 30, 2006

OK I've had my CASIO 430 waveceptor watch now for over 8 months. The Titanium version of the watch band does show scratches but the glass seems to be very scratch resistant. I set the watch once when I bought it (which is a fairly complicated operation to do). I checked the time yesterday against the official US time service and the watch is still accurate to the second. So this is a watch that never needs batteries and is always accurate and looks good, what more could you ask for.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch! Perfect time, easy to read, and looks good!, May 16, 2006
This review is from: Casio Men's VA430SGA-9A1V Waveceptor Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
I love this watch. Never need to set it. It just keeps perfect time and adjusts itself for leap year and daylight savings time. It's the perfect "no maintenance" watch and looks great to boot.

One nice design feature is that the metal surrounding the crystal extends out just a little past the crystal, so it protects the crystal from getting scratched if it grazes a wall.

Only semi-gripe is that it takes some doing to add or remove links on the band. The instructions don't cover it, either. It either takes a special (~$15) tool or a steady hand, hammer, and skiiiinnnnyyy nail to bang out the pins.

Great watch at a great price.

I've been looking for a multi-alarm watch for several months to replace my 10 y/o digital that was accidently destroyed. Many watches were scrutinized and many rejected due to incomplete sets of features or just being "ugly".

The Casio waveceptor is 1. beautiful, 2. pretty light in weight, 3. 3 alarms, 4. a few other features which did not count in my criteria. 5. The solar recharging is cool...Batteries that run forever, what a concept. 6. A big plus...it sets itself by the time standard via radio.

All and all, it's the watch I've been looking for and it's nice enough to wear to the symphony.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redundant praise, September 23, 2006
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Men's VA430SGA-9A1V Waveceptor Solar Atomic Watch (Watch)
This review is a bit redundant, because it simply reiterates what other people have said. This is a fantastic product for the money. It really does keep perfect time (receiving the signal from Colorado near Boston doesn't work every night, but it works often enough to keep the watch accurate to the second), my 64-year-old eyes can read the day and the date, the calendar is perpetual (always accurate, adjusting itself for months less than 31 days and leap years, unlike the mechanical calendars in most quartz and automatic watches), and the solar power means no worries about getting batteries changed. The watch is good-looking (many of Casio's offerings are not, in my opinion; Seiko, too, has gone a bit mad in this regard), though I prefer to wear something else when going out with my wife.

I can also comment that I am using this watch to replace an Omega Seamaster automatic that I bought new and have worn for years. I decided I needed to make a change, at least for daily wear, when I missed a train even though the Omega said I was several minutes early. I had set it against the official US time (nist.time.gov) but not recently enough, and the watch was several minutes slow. I love mechanical watches, and, yes, I could get this watch serviced and adjusted to err on the side of being fast, but for daily business use, I prefer, for $70, to use modern technology to keep me supplied with the exact correct time, day, and date.

This has all the features I was looking for, lighted dial, atomic setting and solar powered.

The manual that comes with it is small print but you can find a full sized PDF file online at the Casio Website.

I have had many compliments on the watch.

4.0 out of 5 stars great watch, January 31, 2006

arrived faster than i anticipated. a fairly long and small printed instruction booklet, but easy to follow. keeps great time. the instructions say to take the watch off and put it on a window sill, but i wear mine all the time and it gets the signal no matter where i am.

stylish looking watch, perhaps a bit thick for a *dress watch*, but have received a number of compliments of it's style.

the back lite just lights the bottom of the watch face for a very short period of time.
