My original reaction when I received the watch was disappointment. I have owned and still own many Casio's, from cheap basic ones to fancy altimeter/compass/temp ones. Even though Casio's are not top of the line, they usually give a solid quality appearance.
This watch came in a very cheap box and display stand with a sticker which kind of looks like it's a knock off. The Amazon watch warranty card confused me even more but then I saw in the back of the lengthy Casio manual that there is a Casio warranty on it and you can register the watch online. Another thing I thought was disappointing is that the face had no plastic protection on it and has many tiny scratches. Nothing noticable, just when you really look close in the sunlight. A cheap piece of plastic sure would have done the trick... I wonder if I got a return. Would appreciate it if someone who got this or a similar watch could comment and let me know if they had plastic on their face. The manual is very elaborate and detailed, which is nice. The watch did not come synchronized, but after some reading and about 4 minutes later it was right on the second compared with another atomic clock. The grey plastic back is also somewhat disappointing. I have never seen that on any Casio's. What is not stated in the description is that this watch will also receive the British time signal from Rugby, England. I will have to test that next time I'm over there. Seeing that I spent twentyfive bucks on it on a friday sale, I can't really complain. But I don't think I would spend a dollar more on it. Would I recommend it? I don't know. If you need a cheap atomic watch with no thrills and you get it for the same price, it might be allright. Otherwise I would spend a little more for a "regular" Casio Waveceptor watch.

I got this as well under the assumption that it wasnt a high end watch. After wearing Invicta's for a while this feels like a gum wrapper on my wrist.
When I received it, I noticed the small scratches all over the crystal. Nothing deep, but they really pick up the glare. Atomic signal, I am unable to get it to pick up one. In Memphis, TN, I think I should be in range, and all my atomic clocks sync up fine. I have tried it facing 4 different directions and also tried it outside to eliminate any interference from the house. Still no good. Basically I spent 30 dollars for a cheap watch that doesnt even have a backlight. Lesson learned.

Nice basic watch,

Nice watch that keeps super accurate time. However, it is very basic showing only the time and date. It would be nice if it had backlighting, but the hands do glow in the dark for some period of time. It is a little tricky to pick up the time signal so I would recommend finding a place in your home where the signal is strong and leave it there every night.

This is a fantastic deal. It arrived in mint condition and is performing perfectly. We did have to try a couple of different rooms to find where it updated automatically. My husband puts it on the bureau in our bedroom nightly (facing the window) and it updates just great. He is EXTREMELY happy with our purchase.

I received this watch yesterday and would like to counter some comments in other reviews. The watch I received has no scratches on the crystal. It was packaged nicely. It does not seem too thick. It does not appear cheap or lightweight. Although the back plate and two buttons are plastic, the rest of the watch is sturdy metal, and it feels solid. The wristband is just the right size for me, although I do have a gorilla wrist. I didn't find the manual difficult to understand. The watch attempted to auto-sync overnight, but didn't get a signal, so I manually sync'ed it the next day according to the instructions with no problem. Easy-to-read dial, low price (about $35), overall a great atomic watch worth twice what I paid.

Very accurate watch at a bargain price,

Atomic watches are highly-accurate quartz watches which are synchronized each day with a time signal broadcast in the U.S. from the definitive U.S. Atomic Clock in Ft. Collins, Colorado. Thus, all atomic watches are always accurate to within a fraction of a second at any time. Since atomic watches adjust automaticaly to and from daylight saving time they are convenient as well as highly accurate. Casio makes -- and Amazon sells -- a wide selection of styles of atomic watches to suit various needs and tastes, including G-Shock watches for extra ruggedness and solar-powered watches which never need replacement batteries. But all atomic watches, including this budget-priced Waveceptor model, are equally accurate to a fraction of a second at all times. If you want an attractive watch that is always accurate and do not need other special features, this model is a real bargain.

Excellent band
Poor watch Explanation................. Watch battery lasted 3 months and when jeweler installed new one it could not be re set, he refused to try any more, and it could not be set automatically by satellite either. Re setting manually is impossible since watch does not respond as instructions say. The band is really nice with a quick release clasp. Installed it on a Luminox watch with a rubber band. Improved it 100%. Future atomic watch purchases will be in the distant future when they have it sorted out.Until then , battery power.

I see some people have complained about how basic this watch is but keep in mind this is a $30 atomic analog watch. I used it for four months straight while my Omega was being serviced and it performed fine. Being in the US northeast like my other atomic clock and watches, it doesn't sync every night but was fine when I put it near a window where my other watches sync ok. In fact when my Omega arrived and I started to wear it, I missed this Casio because I have to set the Omega, an automatic, about once a week. This Casio is a little bit thick but I didn't notice it and it is lightweight. I certainly would buy this again and still wear it sometimes on the weekend.
