Very nice analog appearance.,

This watch looks like an analog quartz movement including the second hand. The date window is large, obviating the need for a date lens. A nice feature is that pushing the lower button alternates the date with the day of the week.
Setting your local time zone can be challenging though. Read the instructions thoroughly. It boils down to this: 1. Push and hold the B (lower) button until the time zone begins blinking. 2. If it's not correct, use the A (upper) button to select the one you want. 3. Then, push the B button TEN times to return to the timekeeping mode. That's the unusual part and not immediatively intuitive. The watch is water resistant to only 50M, not the ad-stated 300 feet. But that's good enough for most of us. The luminance of the hands is good. I wish there were glowing markers to go with them. Looking at the watch in the dark is like looking at a Movado in the daytime. I really like this watch. It is super accurate, lightweight, comfortable and a pleasure to look at on my wrist.

Great watch that automatically callibrates to the US Observatory for those of us who want the exact time. Instructions for set-up could be simpler so read manual carefully.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Men's VQ200HLA-1BV Waveceptor Atomic Watch (Watch)
I received this watch and had it calibrated to my time zone five minutes later. It is very light-weight and very nice looking. The back is plastic instead of metal, but I suppose this is so it can detect the signal better. One drawback is that it does not have a night light, the numbers and hands are just glow in the dark. Other than that, it is very acurate, and fairly simple to set up if you follow the direction without skipping ahead.
I do not know how the watch detects the signal elseware, but I'm only a few miles away from Fort Collins where the signal is broadcast from, and it seems to work beautifully.

Great watch, bad documentation,

The watch looks great and is very accurate (hence the atomic watch category) but the documentation is a bit difficult to get through. There are only 2 buttons on this watch and I would assume that would simplify things.. but not for the person who wrote the users manual.
So, all in all, this watch has been a great purchase. It is a bit thick (i.e. long sleeve shirts with cuffs need to be loosened a bit) but everything else about it looks great. My only other caution would be to make sure you are within 500 miles of the radio signal site (Colorado). I tried this watch in Miami and didn't seem to have much luck.. not sure if I was too far away or what. Regardless, for use in Texas I have no problem receiving a signal and it self-sets itself nicely.

The "2 year" battery that came with the watch died after 3 months! The watch feels very light and cheap and the face scratches very easily. I don't think there is any scratch resistance on it at all, though what would you expect for $35? The manual that came with the watch was the wrong manual, so I had to download the correct one from the casio web site. I was under the impression from the casio web site that it was also solar, but it isn't. :( Setting those negatives aside, I love that it keeps perfect time and that I can read it at night, and it doesn't look bad. I think it was worth the money.

I was looking for a casual inexpensive watch and this one is an excellent choice. The only downside is that sometimes the waveceptor signals can not reach the atomic clock in order update the time(due to cloudy weather). The watch automatically updates the time 5 times through the night when signals are the strongest. If you want a simple, casual, and very accurate watch choose this one. Comes in brown also.
