5.0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the Money
I bought my first Wave Ceptor several years ago. I got a good deal on it but the plastic band broke about a year ago and it is designed so it could not be replaced unless you sent it back to Casio. I learned from that one. These watches keep perfect time and this band is REPLACABLE. The looks of this watch are terrific with the gold ring around the blue field. Yes,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Never worked right
I could never get this watch to set to the right time. I had no control over what it would do. Sent it back!

Yes, it only has the day displayed, but if you become familiar with the buttons, you can find all of the other information. Besides, if you don't know the month and the year, you need more help then this watch can give you. This is a great deal on this watch. Almost half price. I am happy.

Your Friend,

The Timekeeper

4.0 out of 5 stars Great watch for the price, January 11, 2007

I came across this watch on a Friday sale at well over half off, a great price. The features were more than adequate for telling time; dead on accuracy, plus date and day. I figured setting the watch couldn't be too difficult, there are only two buttons, so I purchased it with a gift card, totally painless.

The watch arrived a few days later and I had it programmed easily within 5 or 10 minutes. The watch band is pretty long so I had to remove a link from each side to fit, no special tools are needed. While traveling, setting the time zones is easy as city codes around the world are listed on the back. The wave ceptor function works fine in Boston and in Europe.

I usually wear more expensive watches than this, but this one looks great, much better than in the picture. The specs say it has a metal case, but it doesn't. It has resin buttons, case, and back, but with some metal cladding. The band is all metal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Nice, December 27, 2007

Think of this as an extremely accurate, sweep second hand, day/date wristwatch. No more. No less. It is appropriate for business casual dress. A very nice watch, at an excellent price.

It synchronizes readily next to a window generally facing the radio source (in the US, that's Colorado). It can be adjusted to synchronize for pretty much any time zone, but not IN any time zone. You must be in North America or Great Britain, or otherwise within range of the radio time signal.

The case is thick - about 15mm or 5/8". But the watch is proportioned well and makes a good appearance. The watch band is huge! I had a jeweler remove 2 links ($3), rather than break it myself. You may be able to DIY.

It is not a diver's watch. It's not a sports watch. It not a "chronograph." It does not have a stop watch function of any type, nor a dual time function.

It is a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good watch, January 18, 2007
This review is from: Casio Men's VQ201HSGA-2AV Waveceptor Atomic Watch (Watch)
I am pleased with the watch. It syncs with the big clock in Colorado every morning at midnight. We also have a wall clock at home which does the same thing and the difference between the 2 is no more the 1 second at worst. For $40 you can't go wrong. Only complaint is my wrist is in between removing 1 or 2 links from the watch band so I chose 1. It rides a tad lose on my wrist but 2 links would make it too tight. Guess I need to lose a couple more pounds so I can take another link out!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch at a Great Price, March 31, 2008
Title says it all. This is a great-looking watch which is simple,

super accurate, easy to use, and reliable. It's a hard-to-beat deal

when you take into account the price it's being sold - less than $30.

This watch looks good and, of course, keeps extremely accurate time. Instead of making a point of leaving it near a window between midnight and 4:00 a.m. to allow it to get the time automatically, I cause it to get the time manually when I think of it each day or whenever. I put it on a table near a window on my patio table, press a button, come back in 8 to 10 minutes, the time has been synchronized to Fort Collins. I would have given it 5 stars, except the pins in the band are not easy to remove (they are solid and must be pushed out using a special tool), so you'll need to take it to a watch shop to get the EXTRA LARGE band made smaller. I have HUGE wrists. No big deal; it cost me $8.00.

As far as function - it does what it's advertised to do, you get perfect time. Easy to read dial. A very nice, casual watch.

I got this watch for Christmas after putting it on my wish list. I wish I would have known how large it is however. I have small wrists, and this watch is too large for mine. It is well over 1/2 inch thick making it quite tall above my wrist. Had a jeweler take 4 links out so it fits around my wrist fine. Just wish it weren't so bulky. Pretty cool how it sets the time for you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, effective, only a few problems, December 19, 2007

It's fairly cheap, a bit chunky, a bit gaudier than I'd like. Using the controls is a bit tedious. Occasionally, for no reason I can ascertain although the last it happened the watch battery was probably low, the watch will have the correct time (as one can tell by displaying it piecemeal on the two-character LCD) internally but not displayed by its hands. The manual shows how to set the hands all to the 12 position and put this right, but note that the minute and hour hands must be set TOGETHER: let both the minute and hour hands move (it takes a while even at high speed), as if they were in a sped-up film, at the same time until both end up at the 12 position. (The manual's instructions make it sound as if one first puts the seconds hand at 12, then the minutes, then the hours -- not so: the minutes and hours hands move only together and pressing the B button in an attempt to set hours separately will make the watch "sync" hands to internal time with the hour hand in the wrong position.)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great watch, GREAT PRICE! Fun gadget for the gadgetty-inclined!!, December 27, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Men's VQ201HSGA-2AV Waveceptor Atomic Watch (Watch)
I got this watch for my husband for Christmas. He absolutely loves it. I don't get the reviews that say it's cheap looking - the picture really does not do it justice....it looks nicer than the picture. And my husband *who admittedly is mechanically inclined* figured out how to set it to check the atomic clock almost immediately. It was off time when he opened the package - had been boxed, wrapped and hidden deep within a cabinet since August - but within a few minutes he had it sync'd with the atomic clock in Ft. Collins, CO. (Being in NM and close proximity to CO might help with ease of recieving atomic signal!). Having the 24 time-zone city codes on the back of the dial is a smart move - travelers will appreciate that little extra. Just input the code and the watch self-adjusts.

He did have to take it to the jewelers to have the extra links taken out. There were no instructions in the booklet about that part, and he was afraid to push too hard in the wrong place and damage his new watch. $12.00 at our jewelers was worth it! He's wearing it with great joy, and the gold accent matches his gold wedding band (his last watch was silver with a white face). This watch looks more professional and less nerdy, while still having the tech/gadget component to keep most gadget-hounds happy. It was a STEAL at $34.99 and I saw it as low as $28.99 before it went out of stock. Another seller on Amazon now has it at $79.99, and I would buy it at that price today if I had need of another one. My husband's last watch was a special edition Seiko "Railroad Approved" watch that he'd worn for 12 years, so this Casio had big shoes to fill and, so far, has done exactly that.
