Product Description

Casio

With the launch of its first watch in November 1974, Casio entered the wristwatch market at a time when the watch industry had just discovered digital technology. As a company with cutting-edge electronic technology developed for pocket calculators, Casio entered this field confident that it could develop timepieces that would lead the market.

Today, Casio is focusing its efforts on solar-powered radio-controlled watches: the built-in solar battery eliminates the nuisance of replacing batteries, atomic timekeeping means the users never have to reset the time. Recently, Casio launched a series of Bluetooth watches that sync to the users cell phone to automatically update the time. Casio is always moving time forward.

    Love the solar aspect; no batteries to worry about.
    Randy V.
    The watch has an easy to use stopwatch and timer, and the clock is still visible at the bottom of the display when using those functions.
    Jonathan Jobe
    The numbers are very easy to read and the LED comes in handy in the dark.

    Purchased this watch because of the solar technology. I have an analog watch (an Citizen Eco-Drive...a solar watch) for over 10 years (2000 to current...2011) and have not changed the battery yet and it's still going strong.
    My thinking is that since the analog watch uses a lot more energy than a digital watch, getting it will last a lot longer.
    I love this everything about this watch except for the face. It scratches to easy, but for the price of under $30, can't beat it. My Citizen watch was about $300.

    Excelent watch. Fits nice on wrist, looks good, useful and easy stopwatch and log, plenty alarms, 2 timers to be used togheter, world time and solar device really works.

    I wear it while running and rowing. Even at night it is really easy to operate.

    Nice!

    I bought this watch mainly for the timers and the fact that I never need to replace the battery. But this watch looks good enough that I wear it a lot even when I don't need the timer functions. The numbers are very easy to read and the LED comes in handy in the dark. It's also as rugged as it looks. I would definitely recommend this.

    I purchased this watch in order to have a dependable watch for hiking. So far it is everything i need in a watch, precise timekeeping, waterproof, solar charging for the battery, shockproof. It was under 40 dollars and was shipped free and arrived well packaged and ahead of schedule.

    Pros:

    * Durable. I've had it for a few years now and it's still in great shape. Some other watches have plastic that can stretch and pieces that can fall out.
    * Comfortable
    * Easy to read
    * Multiple alarms
    * Battery charges quickly and lasts for ages
    * Starting and resetting the chronograph is fast. I had a Timex where you had to press a button twice to start the chronograph, then hold a button for several seconds to reset it. On this watch, starting and resetting only take one press each.

    Cons:

    * There are lots of menus. Personally, I never use the chronograph recall or world time screen, so it would be nice to have an option to disable them.
    * The countdown timer can only be set in increments of five seconds. Also, it only goes up to 99 minutes and 55 seconds. These seem like pointless limitations.

    So far so good...but the face does scratch very easy.
    Everything stands out to read very clear, time, date and year.

    As a standard Casio product, this might rate higher. However, one bothersome feature is a deal killer. When the watch is first cycled into stopwatch mode, the time of day is displayed currently in the lower panel. However, when the stopwatch function is initiated, the time of day is replaced by lap or split time. Casio customer service told me that there is no way for the current time of day to be displayed in stopwatch mode, so it is necessary to toggle back and forth. Interestingly, the current time of day is displayed in the lower panel when the watch is running in countdown mode. For running, when I want to see both elapsed time and current time of day at a glance, I have defaulted to countdown mode and doing the necessary simple math in my head. The issue of current time of day display is frequently raised on the Casio forums. Many, including me, wish for a solar model with a simple feature set that includes a current time of day in all modes, but so far, Casio is not listening.

    I have one of the high end Casio's, but I needed something I could bang around at the links...this foots the bill. It is very light, easy to use, and a full charge seems to last forever. However, I can see how the face can get scratched as it is not indented as deep as my other Casio watches, but not a big deal considering the price.
