3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, not great
It seems kind of cheap. The watch works great but the 4 buttons are slightly confusing to operate for my wife, and I suddenly get caught up trying to change to the right time zone all the time. The buttons are a small too. White gets dirty quickly as well on the strap. For the price I was hoping for more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Petite and classy with both solar and atomic time, December 24, 2009

This review is from: Casio Women's LWAM140-7A Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch (Watch)
For a better product view I provided two images; one holding the watch in my hand, and the other in the Casio packaging comparing the size with my men's Breitling watch (click on "see all customer images"). I got this as a Christmas present for my mom so she wouldn't ever have to change the battery or adjust the time. With solar power and radio signal time adjustments, this Casio is completely maintenance free. She loves it and it looks very nice. It almost looks like a luxury watch if it wasn't for the white plastic wristband. I would have preferred a smaller leather band; if anyone knows whether this band can be swapped out with a different style please post a comment on my review. Someone commented on another review that they couldn't find the instructions, but actually a thorough instruction booklet comes in the box. When first taking it out of the package, simply select your nearest major city and then the watch automatically adjusts the time, and that's it. On the little digital display window you can choose to display the time, name of the day of the week, calendar date, or seconds. If it's dark, press another button to activate the backlight for 1 second. This also has the full featured functionality Casio is known for such as alarm and timer. I read on a discussion forum that this model was made exclusively for Amazon, so I guess that would explain why I can't find it on the Casio website. The solar cell is interesting because you won't see any typical looking solar cell, just a very nice almost-sparkling pearly gray face. This ladies watch is fun for those who like high tech convenience, and would be perfect if there were some way to change the wristband.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally a small ladies solar atomic that looks good!, November 11, 2009
This review is from: Casio Women's LWAM140-7A Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch (Watch)
I'd almost given up shopping for a new watch for my wife when the lady at Sears pointed out this new arrival. Why hasn't Casio figured out women want small AND atomic, solar, an on/off light and waterproof earlier. My wife is forever asking me the accurate time as my Pathfinder resets atomically every night. Baby G's don't have solar and atomic, and "jelly" series is too big as are most for women. Small Baby G's are cheap etc. Doesn't Casio realize changing a battery loses a watches waterproof characteristics and basically trashes it? This watch looks much better in person than picture here. She loves the white band and the thing is SMALL. We went to many stores at the Mall and asked for these features available in men's watches all day long. Fact it has analog face plus small digital readout is a plus. Thanks Casio for finally waking up to what women want!

5.0 out of 5 stars Solar, Atomic, and Professional, August 1, 2010

This review is from: Casio Women's LWAM140-7A Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch (Watch)
I love this watch. I have had it for a couple of months, now, and am still really happy with it.

I don't know why manufacturers make so many solar, atomic watches for men, but practically none for women. Changing watch batteries and trying to figure out how to set the time on a watch are a complete pain. With this watch, I don't have to do either one. It's got a nice-looking analog face, with a little digital inset that can be used to show the seconds, the date, the day, or whatever. I like that too--no more pushing a button to find the date.

If you're worried about scratches to this watch's face, I've found that men-sized Swatch Guards (both the stretchy originals and snap-on "too" style) fit this watch snugly.

I recently replaced the band. The original band is quite sporty and does get gray-looking. It cleans up fine but I wanted something a little nicer. I took it to the watchband kiosk at the mall and got a wide white leather band with chrome buckle for under $20. The kiosk guy did a couple of cutouts to the leather and it fits perfectly and looks terrific. It was hard to choose--the watch face looks nice with any color leather band. I think it would also work with a metal band, although I didn't try it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent watch for the price, February 1, 2010

I wanted a watch that kept accurate time and was solar powered. This watch met those requirements. Set up was fast and easy. I have had no problems with linking up to check the time and keep it accurate. I gave it four stars because the dial hands are hard to see. The hands are silver with white accents and they blend with the silver dial which makes them hard to see at first glance. It does not glow in the dark so in low light this makes it even harder to see the hands. The white plastic band get dirty frequently and easily but will clean up with little effort. Overall I do like the watch and for the price it is a good buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Watch- just what I wanted!, January 31, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Women's LWAM140-7A Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch (Watch)
I looked long and hard before I narrowed down my choice to this watch. What sold me was the size, color, atomic features and solar powered! The watch looks very classy with the silver rim and white face. It came carefully packaged, and in very little time I had it synched for my time zone, (it came fully charged). There are many other features here, like checking other time zones, stopwatch, etc. as well (as suggested by the four outer buttons)

My only complaints are that the white hands on the white face are not always easy to see, they should have made with darker hands for a better contrast. Also, the back lighting isn't that great for seeing what time it is in the dark....Didn't think I'd like the band, but actually I like how it looks on, and am not going to change- plus it is super comfortable. Will update this review if anything changes- but so far, I think I have found my perfect watch!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not cheap band, November 10, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Casio Women's LWAM140-7A Solar Atomic Waveceptor Sports Watch (Watch)
Just wanted to add my two cents.

DELIVERY~

I recently received this watch via mail. Amazon you beat my expectations again! The watch arrived promptly, earlier than I thought it would. The watch arrived in the standard Amazon box. Inside the box was a tin. Within the tin was a styrofoam padding and a hallowed out core. The core contained the time piece.

SELECTING THE WATCH

I was very hesitant on which watch to get. The black version of this watch sells currently for ~$36. The white version is $66, almost double the price. I'm kind of conservative when it comes to spending money. I was leaning towards getting the cheaper version just because it was cheaper, but for ladies, I think the white watch would pair better with clothes. The watch also has a nicer face. It appears to be a blue opalescence. The black watch also has 5 stars rating. The white watch currently only has a 4 star rating. I think this may be because people who pay more may expect more from the product they order.

ADJUSTING THE TIME

The white watch comes with a very small thick manual and thin pamphlet. I didn't even need to read anything to set this up. I just put the watch in the light and away from the metal tin, where the radio signal could shield the watch from picking up the time. The watch automatically started to pick up energy from the light. The solar power took over! The dial hands started to spin. I checked the time against my kitchen clock, which had just changed over from daylight savings. The time was accurate down to the minute.

SMALL DIGITAL DISPLAY

The digital display is tiny font, like other users have commented. It's not that bad though. I can read it. I do wear contacts and I am near-sighted. I can see how maybe people who are far-sighted might not be able to read it.

BAND

The white band is plastic, but a watchmaker should easily be able to replace the band. There are also how to guides and youtube videos available on how to switch the band yourself. I thought the band would be really tacky looking given how many people commented on how cheap the band looks. I think it's not that noticeable. It is definitely plastic, but not run of the mill lego type stuff either. The plastic looks durable and doesn't seem to be discomforting, at least, not yet. I will update if my review changes with prolonged use.

Bought this watch for my girl friend. Really great buy. LCD display is small but you can see all displays easily. Band is white and will get dirty with time, so cleaning will be required. Waveceptor works great as she is currently vacationing in NY and time adjusted for itself. She loves the fact that it is solar powered and doesn't look masculine like the traditional solar casio's. She wears it everywhere she goes.

Overall its a really good watch and price was great!!

I just received this from Amazon and it will be a gift for my wife. The watch itself doesn't look very special but it is one of very few choices for women with solar and atomic features. And the size are small compared with most Casio watches for ladies. I think it is a keeper.

4.0 out of 5 stars Loved it, but the band is cheap, January 20, 2011

the band does feel flimsy and looks like it would easily get dirty. That being said, my dog ate it after I had it about 2 months, so I can't really judge it on its durability. It does, however, look very nice with the case and it looks more modern than most sporty watches.

As for the actual watch, it is very cute and versatile. I fond that the case size was just right for my wrists (which are of average size) and there are no teeth marks on the case, so it must be more durable than the strap. Also, the silvery gray dial went with a lot of my more casual outfits. The light is nice.

I loved not having to worry about the battery, it absorbs solar energy very effectively.
