We bought this last year and really enjoyed it. Left it out without the roof over the winter---no problems. HOWEVER, you really do need someone with a little technical know-how to put it together. That's one of the reasons we didn't take it back down! Also, if you have a membership to a certain warehouse (think of one with a patriotic name), you can get it, with shipping included, for quite a bit less than half a grand. We have tripled the time we spent outdoors---probably more---because we can finally sit bug-free. Also, this size is big enough for a large lounge chair (chaise) and two or three regular outdoor chairs, or you could probably squeeze in a smaller wicker set. Big enough for us!

I had one of these a few years ago.I got it from an older couple at a tag sale for $150.00!!!! I set it up on my 16x16 deck and screwed the frame down to the floor of the deck. It worked great and wasn't too hard to figure out how to assemble it with no instructions.
During big storms, I would just throw a couple lengths of clothesline rope over the roof and tie the ends down just so nothing blew away, lol It held fast every time.

My only words of caution are;

1) Do not try to take down or put up in cooler fall or early spring weather. The vinyl top needs to be pliable to stretch it enough for it to fit. if the vinyl gets too cold, you'll have a heck of a time stretching it out enough to put on or take off.

2) DO NOT let my ex wife take it down for you, she took ours down, or tried, and it was cooler out so she couldn't take the roof off so she got mad and pushed it off the deck and completely ruined it. I ended up throwing it all away. screens were torn, roof was torn, aluminum frame panels were bent and twisted... I wanted to kill her!! And now that I see how much they actually cost, I'm mad again!

We have had our Casita for 3 years now and have felt we got good value for the money we spent. It is set up on our wooden deck using the bolt down kit (separate purchase). I work from home a lot and this has made a great "corner office" for me where I can supervise the dog and watch the local wildlife while I work.

Pros: For the money it is pretty good. I compared it to other screen houses at big-box retailers and what sold me on this was that it had rigid walls and a real door rather than a zippered net. If you are going in and out all the time, that is a must. When properly secured with the bolt-down hardware and the included center rope from the center of the roof to the ground, it is very sturdy in Chicago-area winds. (I ran that center rope through the "umbrella hole" of my patio table so it is not in the way.) If I remember correctly, if you don't have a hard surface to attach to, you can use tent stakes. Not sure if that would be as sturdy or not. I take the roof down in late fall as I don't think it would withstand heavy snow loads but I leave the structure up and it is still in very good shape.

Cons: The roof is vinyl and has a limited lifespan I think. Ours lasted 3 years and started showing some small cracks so I replaced it. ($200 from mfg) It is an added expense but at $65/yr I don't see that as a big deal given how much we use it. The door does sag/scrape if you do not support it when opening but I don't see that as a huge issue. It is a big door and is nice when you are trying to move the patio table in and out. One thing I don't like is that there is no "eave" or overhang of the roof past the wall. When it rains, even with no wind, the rain tends to run off the roof and down the sides of the screen.

Good things:
- Delivery was great. It came right on time.
- Materials seem to be decent quality. Much better than our prior screen tent.
Not-so-good things:
- The instructions are not good. They are ambiguous and there are not enough pictures. WHY doesn't someone make a video?
- The whole structure is held together by tension. There are two wire cables that hold the screens together top and bottom and go all the way around. During assembly you have to pull these taut and hook a clip onto a loop. I can NOT get the ends to meet. Ended up putting some wire between them. I am hoping that on a warmer day I may be able to finally get them together. I just hope there are no big storms before then.
- The roof is attached by grommets that "button" over the ends of the roof supports. I got 5 of them attached, but can NOT get the other three to stretch. My son-in-law and I were simultaneously pulling as hard as we could and came up 1/4 inch short. Great. Now what? It would be nice if there were some hints for how to make this work (aside from "do this on a warm day". It was 75 degrees. To be fair, there IS an a length adjustment on the roof supports. The instructions say to put it on the middle adjustment. I wish I had started with the shortest one. Once you get the roof supports up, it is going to be a huge hassle to change the length (take off the roof, disassemble to support, change the length, put the whole thing back together and HOPE that this time it works).

All that said, I like the way the screen house looks. I think it will keep a lot of the Minnesota mosquitoes out. The inside is pleasant. I am a little nervous about storms. There are no vents for air to get out of the top. I have used the anchor loops and stakes provided. And then there are the three grommets on the roof I have not been able to fasten... I have emailed the manufacturer for advice. I will report status.
