Great story for kids that have to travel on Christmas.,
This review is from: Casper's First Christmas [VHS] (VHS Tape)
If you have kids that will be traveling for Christmas and have anxiety about not being home, this is a good tape for them. It shows that Santa and Christmas will find you wherever you are.
In the story Casper lives with a grumpy ghost named Hairy Scarey in a haunted house in the country that has been condemned. It will be bulldozed soon and Hairy is upset since he does not own the deed to to stop it. So in the midle of Christmas Eve they leave the house to find a new home to haunt. Casper wants to celebrate Christams, but Hairy says that ghosts don't have friends or get presents. Meanwhile a big gang of Hanna Barbera characters are taking a ride to stay in a winter lodge to celebrate Christmas. The car includes Yogi Bear as driver, his bear pal Boo Boo, Doggie Daddy, Auggie Doggie, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, and Huckleberry hound. On the way to the lodge at night they get hit with a storm. They need shelter for the ight and they pull into the haunted house. They decide to make the best of things and while singing, they clean and decorate the house, and bring in their food for a party. They realize that Santa will find you wherever you are. Capser and Hairy camoe back to the house after an unfruitful search, shocked to find someone there having a jolly party. While Casper wants to make friends and join in, Hairy feels mean about the whole thing and tries to scare everyone away. That is until he finds a letter to Santa from Casper, asking Santa not to give him a present but to help Hairy get the deed to his house instead. This unselfish act helps Hairy to decide to get the holiday spirit after all, and sure enough Santa finds the house. And of course he has gifts for all, and a deed to the house for Hairy that says it will never be bulldozed. 25 minutes long, made in 1979 by Hanna-Barbera productions, directed by Carl Urbano. There is a laugh track, but thankfully it is muted somewhat. It is pretty cute, but kids over 9 may think it is too slow.
