4.0 out of 5 stars Casting down a Texan assault, August 5, 2000
By E. Peltier "doormouse" (North Arlington, New Jersey United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Imagine the feeling you would have it you actually lived out the experience inferred by the Pissing Razors name. Reflecting on the brutality of the idea and experiencing the musical plague they attempt to cast down on their sophomore release could certainly make the image a reality. Following in the path of fellow Texan thrash-mongers, Pantera, the Pissing Razors brand of riff-laden metal is straight forward and grinding with a guttural punch equal to the weight of an 80,000 pound semi barreling at you with no brakes. There is no escaping the guitar driven assault and pummeling double bass onslaught that the Razors entail. Cast Down the Plague continues the spellbinding concepts established by the quartet on their self-titled debut while allowing them the room to experiment with backwards rhythms and vocal dynamics a bit. The riffs are tight, with the venomous bite of a desert rattler, yet contain just enough melody in-and-of themselves to render them memorable.

Overall the music and sound are nothing groundbreaking alone, but combine with the energy of the band's personality, offers fist-in-the-air fury and ground stomping mosh action that is rarely felt in metal these days. Pissing Razors are the definitive throwback to the 80's thrash era with a 90's version of noise production and angst to drawn in the dedication of the next generation of adrenaline-pumped fans. Blasting ears with brutal double-time passages that drop definitively into near clean vocal choruses or defining, near metal-core breakdown passages, the Razors build upon everything that ever made American thrash internationally dominate while still experimenting with the now splintered "metal" sound. Cast down your notion that this is just another uni-dimensional thrash band hailing under the six flags of Texas and embrace the powerful brutality that is the Pissing Razors before you contract the plague that will make their name a reality in your world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Too similar to their debut offering to make any waves., August 3, 1999
By A Customer
Pissing Razors impressed the Metal World with their debut and felt they had to put it out again. I love their sound so I did give it 3 stars and it does have some high points. If you have never heard this band I recommend this CD, if you have the first and really, really love it get this CD, if you have their first and aren't a huge fan of that; stay away from Cast Down the Plague. this band is a couple of steps away from being on the 'metal map'
