Book Description

September 1999
(Synopsis) Pursuing fish from the beaches of Baja, California to the tree-clad rivers of the Pacific Northwest, Francis Theodore Sepic is a fly fisherman of mythic stature. Cast from the Edge traces this life of a man who dwells on life's edges - the edge of society, the edge of respectability, and at times the edge of sanity. Master storyteller, Scott Sadil, weaves this unforgettable character around life's everyday bumps and humps in a bluntly honest portrayal of the life of an uncommon fly fisher.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sadil Strikes Again, July 12, 2001

This review is from: Cast from the Edge: Tales of an Uncommon Fly Fisher (Hardcover)
This is an amazing gem, like Sadil's earlier book. If you grew up along the coast, surfed, fished (bait, fly, bone jigs, inflated worms, whatever), smoked a bit, got lost on dirt tracks in Baja, raised kids, were a father - or a son - you will resonate with this. And even if you weren't, or didn't, there is writing here that surprises and delights in its poignancy and penetration. A great book that is and isn't about ocean fly-fishing.

I can think of nothing more complimentary than to want to meet the protagonist of any story. After completing this book, I wish that I could meet the fictional author of the journals and share a cup of coffee and swap stories. I'm ordering Sadil's "Angling Baja" today.
