Book Description

Schiffer Book for Collectors July 2007
Here, at last, is a long-awaited reference for collectors of cast iron toy cook stoves and ranges. This comprehensive book covers a century of toys, from the 1840s to the 1940s from both major manufacturers of full size stoves and ranges and toy manufacturers. Included are stoves and ranges produced by Kenton Hardware Co., Hubley Manufacturing Co., Dent Hardware Co., Ideal Manufacturing Co., Majestic Manufacturing Co., J. & E. Stevens Co., as well as the Philadelphia Stove Works, Orr, Painter and Co., and many others. Over 400 examples are shown, alphabetically arranged, displaying many of the most sought-after models including the Acme, Bucks, Charter Oak, Daisy, Model, Waldorf, Zenda and everything in between! The A to Z alphabetical format gives readers quick identification of toy stoves and ranges by name, while the Index, organized by manufacturer, provides a consolidated cross-reference. Collectors wishing to expand beyond the central theme of cast iron toy stoves and ranges will find useful chapters on go-withs, and complementary fields of collecting. Each caption includes description, size, manufacturer, and current market value. This invaluable reference will delight and inspire toy collectors worldwide.

My dad collects these little cast iron stoves. It is so difficult to tell the difference between the real stoves and the fakes. Thank you to the author for giving us the information to identify the difference.

3.0 out of 5 stars Damaged Book, August 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Cast Iron Toy Cook Stoves and Ranges: From A to Z (Schiffer Book for Collectors) (Paperback)

I purched 2 books at the same time from Amazon Both of the books were damaged. The stove book looked like it had water damaged because the pages were wavy at the bottom. The 2nd book the front cover had a crease in it because it had been folded over at one time. I know I could of sent them back, but it was'nt worth my time to do so.. I WILL NEVER BUY A BOOK FROM AMAZON AGIN.
