Product Description

Imagine being able to ride in cold weather with clothing that emulated all the best features of your summer-weight kit: bibs that didn't restrict breathing, a chamois as good as the one in your best shorts, and lightweight materials that didn't feel bulky or restrictive. The Castelli Sorpasso Bib Tights are part of Castelli's Rosso Corsa line of products, and as a result, they get the Italian manufacturer's very best treatment in materials, design, and fit. The Sorpasso Bib Tights begin with Castelli's top-of-the-line Progetto X2 pad, the same pad found in their best shorts. The top layer that contacts your skin is a made from a seamless, four-way stretch microdenier fabric designed to move in harmony with your body and eliminate the chafing that can come with materials with too little stretch. It receives an antibacterial treatment and is bonded to a variable thickness pad made from multiple density foams; the result is a smoothly contoured pad that places the firmest foam where support is most needed. Perforated inserts help to relieve pressure on the sit bones and perineum -- just where riders experience the greatest pressure. The front of the tights are cut from Thermoflex Core Due to keep the wind out. This two-layer material traps air in a hollow-core layer of polyester while moisture is transported to the outer nylon/Lycra layer where it can evaporate. A simpler fabric, Thermoflex, is used for the portions of the tights not exposed to the wind for greater breathability. Giro++ grippers keep both the bib straps and ankles in place. It's rare to find bibtights that are this light and this warm. Like the bibs in the Rosso Corsa line, the waist of the Sorpasso Bib Tights is cut very low to eliminate restrictions on breathing caused by pressure on the belly. The Castelli Sorpasso Bib Tights are Black/white and are available in six sizes from Small through XXX-Large.

These are as most say an incredible winter bib.

My girlfriend says I'm skinny, but a small of these tights treated my substandard stomach like a bulging beer belly.

I have ridden with these one days and nights down as low as about 40 degrees and they are plenty comfortable.

TEMPERATURE RATING INACCURATE. Castelli rates these at 32-59F. I bought these thinking that would be accurate for my needs: New England fall/winter. It is not. I can only conclude that their temperature rating does not factor in wind. At speeds of 20-35 MPH, these tights do not offer sufficient wind resistance to bike in temperatures of 32-50F (the range I tested them in, which is within the manufacturer's recommendations). I ended up returning them and buying the Castelli Polare tights, which work wonderfully in freezing, rainy, windy conditions.

SIZES RUN SMALL. The fit is less generous than even their sizing charts indicate. I am 5'8" 150 lbs. Like most people who are considering spending nearly $200 on bicycle tights, my legs are lean and perhaps larger around than the average non-cyclist. The small barely fit over my thighs; I felt as though I was going to rip it pulling it on. My girlfriend says I'm skinny, but a small of these tights treated my substandard stomach like a bulging beer belly.

SUM: Three stars because it doesn't work in the temperatures the manufacturer rates it for [...]nor does it fit a person with measurements within the manufacturer's sizing chart ranges.

I ignored all the reviews regarding purchasing a size up. I am glad I did. Though it felt tight pulling up over my thigh area, once on it felt comfy both walking around and especially in the saddle. The Chamois doesn't move around. I am 5'4 135 lbs and the small is perfect length for me. In around 50 degrees weather in Seattle with some wind it keeps me warm. Will update once I've tried it through rain and through the rest of winter.

These are as most say an incredible winter bib. I've wore them on several rides since I just purchased. Two of the rides were sub freezing temps in Michigan but this bib kept me toasty on my lower half. I will warn these run extreme small!!! I am 6' and a very fit 170lbs. I didnt hesitate to order an XL. After a long ride I noticed the seam in two places where the reflective material is was almost completely tore. Clearly this is not right and the buyer had no problem replacing thankfully. I did replace them with an xxl and am happy I did. I have never owned anything xxl but they fit snugg and are much easier to get on and off. Make sure to put these on and off with care and don't put too much stress on the seams while doing so and you'll have no complaints. Size up size up size up !!

Really love these bibs. I had to try a number of different brands before settling on Castelli. I've been riding with these around nyc in 25 degree weather as of late and they've kept me warm. As warm as one can be in 25 degrees but not over heating. Most off they fit really amazingly and the stitching is of good quality. When I have some extra cash to throw to my cycling - plan on getting a second pair.

Warm and very flexible. Feels like wearing a shorts. It's that good. Very thin material so might not last long on an MTB.
