Product Description

If being able to see your breath was ever an excuse not to ride, no one's ever tried to use it on Castelli. The Castelli Zoncolan Jacket gives you a tangible advantage over Mother Nature. As tough as the legendary Italian climb, the Zoncolan is windproof, water-resistant, and warming in temperatures as low as 32 degrees. The Zoncolan is an excuse-killer of a jacket that leaves no reason to avoid putting in your base miles. Castelli's Zoncolan Jacket is made from the legendary Windstopper X-Fast 2 fabric. Both windproof and water-resistant, this W.L. Gore fabric is also highly breathable -- providing dependable warmth in frigid conditions without making you a sweaty mess. For extra protection on wicked winter descents, Castelli added a flip-up, fleece-lined Thermoflex collar to keep the wind from biting your chest and neck. The Zoncolan also features three external back pockets for your portables, and has an elastic band to keep the jacket from riding up. The Zoncolan is the go anywhere, do anything jacket for winter. The Castelli Zoncolan Jacket is available in six sizes from Small to XXX-Large and in the colors Black, Cyan/black, and White/red/black.

Great jacket, very nice and warm. The jacket fits tight so if you are a medium order a large one.

I just got this jacket after waiting weeks from the seller. It's a tight-fit jacket, you will be able to layer with Castelli long sleeve shirts or any other tight-fit long sleeve. The cut does not allow too much for layering, so take this into account when ordering.

I am a size M with most brands including Pearl Izumi, Garneau, etc. But with Castelli, I use L size with the jerseys and shorts. Having said that, I spoke to the seller and they suggested to keep the L size with this jacket as it was designed with the same cut as the jerseys. I think however that a size XL will fit more comfortable. I think that with these jackets from Castelli you will have to get a trusty and quick retailer than can allow you to try one or two sizes.

I rode today in 50F with a 18mph wind and a drizzle. I wore a base layer (not too thick), a Castelli GPM jersey and this jacket. It was fine for the initial 15 minutes but then it was very, very warm. This is good as I now know that I can ride it in the 40s with confidence.

However, I am not sure about the claim from Castelli that this jacket will be comfortable all the way down to 32F. At least not in Chicago where I live. I felt that the arms were a bit cold (since I was basically not moving them).

I also wore a Castelli Leggerezza 2 tight and it felt cold at the beginning but it was nice after warming for 15 minutes. So, I think that this outfit will work well even in the low 40s.

You need to be trim and fit for the jacket to fit properly. Just like all other Castelli gear.

But I wore the jacket with a base layer underneath and felt comfortable in temperatures down to 40. The high collar and jacket material are impervious to the wind. This is my go to jacket, along with my Castelli insulated bibs and full finger gloves, are my go-to gear for cold weather riding.

Looks good too!

The jacket itself is very nice. I'm 6'2 200 and could barely get myself into the XL. It sat above my waist line, and was incredibly tight.

I ended up returning the coat

I bought this after discovering the size I needed in the Castelli Espresso Due Jacket was out of stock. I'm 6'2", 190lbs and typically wear a large in just about anything. Apparently, I'm an XXL in Castelli gear.

The jacket is great. Again, I had to jump two sizes up to get a decent fit, but the finish and material are really nice. The jacket is warm and the sleeves are long enough to meet my gloves. I'd like the torso to be a little longer, but maybe it would bunch up in the gut (the only place the jacket isn't relatively tight) on the bike if it was.

Based on some other gear I've purchased, I'm expecting the vinyl scorpion logo on the back to peel off, but the one on the front looks like it's there to stay. I didn't wear the first jacket out on a ride, but, for what it's worth, I actually prefer the Zoncolan to the more expensive Espresso Due.
