4.0 out of 5 stars A handy little book with sound observations
The author discusses his experiences with the demonically oppressed and possessed. The advice and information he gives is fascinating and offers much toward a more complete understanding of this little known area of Spiritual Warfare. He answers the questions: "what are demons; what is their connection with drugs, lust, pornography, crime and mental illness,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Sumrall's books are more revalent
After having read both books, i have found that Lester Sumrall is the more informative on the subject. His book "Demons, the answer book" shows the believer how to take authority thru Christ.Whyte has a tendency to be a little "off the mark" in my opinion.

This review is from: Casting Out Demons (Paperback)
The author discusses his experiences with the demonically oppressed and possessed. The advice and information he gives is fascinating and offers much toward a more complete understanding of this little known area of Spiritual Warfare. He answers the questions: "what are demons; what is their connection with drugs, lust, pornography, crime and mental illness, how does faith in the Power of Christ inundate the devil's influence," and many other questions about demonology. After reading this book, those interested in Christian Deliverance Ministry, and casting out demons will have a much better feel and understanding of what is involved, although reading a number of other books on the topic (from the Christian perspective) and some actual experience will be necessary to get a competency for the ministry required and a well-rounded understanding of all that is involved in this vital ministry field. I can recommend it as a sound addition to a collection of books on the subject.

4.0 out of 5 stars You shall know the truth , and the truth shall set you free!, June 25, 2000

This review is from: Demons And Deliverance (Paperback)
I read this book and found it a good book to give to people who don't yet know much of the spiritual realm. For it is written that we don't fight against flesh and bone but against prinsipalities and unseen forces(Own words). I strongly recommend this book to all believers and can promise you that everything in this book is as real as you get for I personally have seen a few deliverance sessions and have received a gift to speak in tongues. I just pray for all the lost souls who think that Jesus is a myth and that christianity is just a religion, for it is much more than just another religion, it is a relationship. And I can promise you that nothing on earth can compare with the peace you have in Jesus. And I think it is about time that we as christians should stand together and fight Satan for he is the ruler of the earth. Fot time is little. People these days are so spiritually blind and have lack of knowledge and that is what are keeping them away from Jesus. Lets go out and be deciples!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good - but get the original versions, May 23, 2004
This review is from: Demons And Deliverance (Paperback)
Casting Out Demons and A Manual of Exorcism by Whyte were both 1970's publications and a good read in their original versions and I give them 5 stars each. These comments apply to the book ("DEMONS AND DELIVERANCE") which is an amalgamation of the two earlier works, which were easy to read introductions to deliverance. But Whitaker House has revised this text and updated it for the 'modern' reader. They have changed the impact of some key thoughts. Better to save your money and buy a good used copy in the original editions of Casting Out Demons and A Manual of Exorcism.
H. A. Maxwell Whyte has been termed the father of the modern deliverance ministry. After his intial encounters with demons in 1947 as a pastor in Toronto he became known as an authority on casting our demons, the baptism of the Spirit and the end times. His writings have become classic, especially "The Power Of The Blood" with his influence being straight out of the revivals of the early 1900s. Whyte was an excellent preacher and expounder of the Scriptures. He was an original thinker and it's a pity his other 14 or so publications have not been re-issued. [I wrote this in 2004, now it is 2009 and I still maintain the same viewpoint.][and now it is 2010 and I still agree]

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time or money., October 28, 1998

This review is from: Power over Demons (Paperback)
I had purchased this book with the hope of finding an useful resource on demons.

What I found was a POORLY WRITTEN description of a group of Christians PREYING UPON the FEARS of a few haunted (they say possessed) people to CONVERT them to way of (their) God.

The notion that these people had no knowledge of demons when they began their quest is a joke. The possiblity that their faith alone could shield them from demonic forces is A CROCK. Even the most devout, and knowledgeable, exorcists are at great risk when battling these evil forces.

In my opinion these people have no more knowledge of demons than what could be found in the King James VERSION of the Bible, from which they frequently quote.

If you are looking for a trustworthy source to aid you in battling demonic forces, LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Given the option this would have recieved ZERO STARS.
