While not the publication you might choose if doing an in-depth study of the runes, this cased kit of 64 page hard cover book and set of 25 rune cards contains all you might need to begin your journey, or gift to someone else who has expressed in interest. He includes the 24 Futhark cards plus the blank he names Wryd, introduced by Blum a quarter century ago.
Each rune gets two dedicated pages of background and divinatory guides, along with assigned: meaning, deity, direction, animal, bird, color, tree, and herb. My only quibble is the card backs whose colors don't blend with the set, and which show a Norse-type soldier or warrior flat on his back with an arrow through him. I didn't get the associated symbology at all, so covered them with self-stick paper and have used them as a portable journal, adding notes as I've explored the many books on the subject. |
