Casting Shadows is a well-written, user-friendly book that I thoroughly enjoyed! Colleen has a comfortable style of writing that kept me interested in learning more about her fascinating ideas of adding dimension to quilts. The illustrations and directions are clear, and the photographs are amazing. I was fortunate enough to see many of the quilts at one of her trunk shows, and she is truly an incredible quilt artist. I am looking forward to another book from her in the future!

This book is easy to read, and with great illustrations. Lots of the information can be used in many other ways.The information on Appliqued shadows including using sheers and discharging and painting is very useful and very clearly illustrated. A wonderful book to help you in trying experimental techniques in your quilting.

I have already made a project from this book. I saw the author on TV and ordered the book right after. It does not disappoint and my quilt is gorgeous.

This book has some interesting concepts for making quilt blocks. The directions are easy to follow and the results amazing.

This book is well written and features some fascinating ideas. It will definitely appeal to those who are interested in stretching the concept of quilting into the realm of fabric art. The more traditional quilter will find value in incorporating some of the techniques into their designs to make them even more personal and unique. It is a fun book and has merit for a wide audience as the ideas span all levels and types of quilters and can be incorporated into other medium as well. A lovely book.

Interesting new ways of looking at quilts that all of a sudden turn them into art.....ahh how satisfying.

Very nice book, can really get your brain churning with ideas. It is so easy to read this book and come up with more of your own ideas than you have time to make! Her instructions are very well written and the book is easy to read and follow. I made one where you use the bleach to "discharge" the color from the fabric. I made it look like falling leaves and it turned out well enough to earn a place on my living room wall. Thank you Colleen!

After I got this book from the library, I knew I had to have one of my own. I love quilts that have optical illusions in them, and this book has many! The patterns are so unique yet the directions are simple and easy to understand. Colleen Wise is a very talented quilt artist who creates quilts "outside the box". If you want to create an unusual quilt, you must have this book.

I love this book. I think others need to have this in their library of quilting learning the technique of shadowing. Great Job. Great Service too.
