Margaret Tessler is an award-winning writer, and her Sharon Salazar mystery series is a treat you can't afford to miss. Tessler's latest adventure in the series takes Sharon and her husband, Ryan on a skiing vacation to the resort town of Cloudcroft in New Mexico's Sacramento Mountains. But before they've been there one full day, they find themselves trying to avoid an unpleasant addition to their party, and Sharon and Ryan, along with their friends, Cat and Steve, discover a frozen body high up the mountain on the ski trail. As usual, Sharon's lawyer skills and natural curiosity set her on a mission to discover what happened to the dead teenager. By the time Sharon discovers the true culprit, we've been taken on a twisted path of hidden family secrets---so terrible that a young girl must die to keep them hidden. You'll never guess the ending she's created for us.

Part of the fun of Tessler's novels is the journey you get to take vicariously with her characters. In Casting Shadows, we discover what makes Cloudcroft the vacation paradise of southern New Mexico. Personally I couldn't wait for the opportunity to take a trip there and did so last fall. It was just as wonderful as Margaret described!

Margaret has a light hearted way of weaving a mystery with suspense and drama. I usually guess the villain, but her story telling surprises you. Margaret, I look forward to your next book.

This book is set in Cloudcroft, New Mexico in an area I have driven through. It made me want to go for a stay at The Lodge. Margaret Tessler creates some truly outrageous, humorous characters in her books along with the more normal, likable people. Her book presents real day problems appropriate to the age groups presented. She kept me interested in the mystery presented and the way the the mystery was solved along with the solutions to some group dynamics presented. The people are well portrayed.
