A Glimpse Into British Haunted Lore,
By
This review is from: Castle Ghosts of Scotland [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Robert Hardy gives Robert Stack of _Unsolved Mysteries: Ghosts_ a run for his money is this excellent film about the specters and wraiths that haunt the castles and forts of Scotland. He leads us on a spectral tour of some of the best ghost stories I've ever heard. Fascinating tales that left me wanting more ghost stories from the British Isles.
The ghost of the piper, whose ghostly strains still float over the coast; the ladry Drummond who post-mortem left her eldritch mark; Glamis haunted by the curse of True Thomas; a visit by the devil himself to punish those who break the sabbath laws; these are but a few of the excellent stories that haunt this film. What is most fascinating about this film (and the others in the Haunted Castles series) is that it reveals quite straightforwardly that those who live in these castles and care for them, believe quite fervently in the ghosts that haunt them. When watching _Unsolved Mysteries_ there is a certain "camp" feel to the show, that no one involved quite believes what they're speaking of. None of that exists in this series as even respected members of preservation societies and scientists, even the show's host all lay their ghost stories at the feet of the viewer expecting reciprocal belief at what they have to say. Watch it with the lights turned low, and a storm blowing its wailing chords over your windows if you dare.

A Lich Rubbish,
By Joseph Adams "brother" (Superior, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Castle Ghosts of Scotland [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Aside from a skull faced lich, this had little to offer in horror. A castle now could be simply a house.
