1.0 out of 5 stars A disappointment
I bought this book because Hannah Howell's name was on it,and since this was the first story that I have read from Ms. Frence I thought that I'd give it a try. I was VERY disappointed. To give a one word summery of Ms.Frence's story it would have to be "STUPID".I find new authors to read by buying "theme" books with a favorite author on it.If this is...

The first story is set in 1385, by Hannah Howell. The second is set in 1550, by Judith E. French. The third is set in 1725, by Colleen Faulkner. Each story is remarkable. I closed each with a smile on my face.

I highly recommend this book. I consider it Romance Extraordinaire!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good book, don't miss this one 5 stars, July 14, 1999

This review is from: Castle Magic (Paperback)
Castle Magic is three stories that take place in one castle in Scotland and three women who lived there in different centuries. I was enchanted by the holy well and the fact that the castle curse was a good one, not a bad. Each author has written a wonderful, romantic story, each one different but equally good. I love history and Scotland is a favorite setting. I bought a second copy so I could lend the first one to a friend. I absolutely would buy all three authors again. Romantic Magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Accurate, moving and well written. Could hardly put it down, July 13, 1999

This review is from: Castle Magic (Paperback)
I have never been one to read romance novels. I tend to find them sing songy and the writing mediocre at best. Castle Magic was not only accurate in the obvious research that went into it, but it was also beautiful and created loving imagery to the reader. Personally, I cannot see why this only rated 1 star in your poll. Clearly your readers that have polled so far prefer the suger coated and ridiculous ramblings of the average trash novel. Perhaps Ms. Howell should consider expanding her talents into a market where the average reader is a bit more educated and demanding of quality. - H.Bannon

5.0 out of 5 stars Three great stories in one book!, July 13, 1999

This review is from: Castle Magic (Paperback)
I just finished reading Castle Magic. I bought it because I love Scotland books and this one certainly didn't disappoint me. All three stories were very different from the usual romance and I liked the way each one took place in the same castle, just in different centuries. The women were different in personality, yet in the end, the magic well changed all their lives. I won't be loaning this book to friends-- they'll have to buy their own!

My heart was touched by the wonderful characters in all three of these luscious stories. After reading Castle Magic, I yearn to visit Scotland. The rich Scottish culture permeates the pages of this book. Buy it! Read it! You won't be disappointed.
