The Sidewinder ESC is ready to run out of the box, but it is completely Castle Link compatible too drivers can use their Castle Link and Windows PC to tune and tweak all their favorite settings such as brake and throttle curves, throttle response, drag brake and many other parameters that add up to an incredible RC driving experience. Use all the power handling and custom tweaking of the Sidewinder with your brushed motors too. That s right, Sidewinder is easily configured to run conventional brushed motors for those who may need to run brushed to compete in some racing classes. One controller can provide the solution you need! The Sidewinder 1/10th scale ESC is intended for use with the Castle 4600 KV motor up to 3S (12 Cell NiMH) and the long time favorite Castle 5700 with 2S Lipo (8 cell NiMH) Max. Castle s incredible CM-36 4600 kV and 5700 kV motors are made to exacting specifications and offer some of the best electromagnetic efficiencies of any motors on the RC market. Castle motors run cool for a given power level that means you can run them at higher power levels without worrying about thermal damage. Top-quality Neodymium magnets, carefully designed windings and high-RPM bearings deliver an incredible punch. Why Two Motor Choices? Sidewinder is available with our 4600 kV* and our 5700 kV* motors. Drivers can mix and match gearing and the number of cells that they are using to create a power system that can be mild or a raging wild thing with either motor. Both motors will make the cars go insanely fast - the 4600 will generally result in a more driveable car with finesse on throttle, while the 5700 is more like a big-block 60 s muscle car. The term kV refers to the number of RPMs that the motors will try to deliver per volt applied.

I converted an old Traxxas Nitro Hawk to electric and installed this combo form Castle Creationswith the 4600kv motor. I am using a 3 cell lipo with a 14 tooth pinion and a 66 tooth spur gear. This Hawk has never been so fast, Castle programable ESC is great with all kinds of settings. I would highly recommend this setup.
