More About the Author

Cullen grew up in rural North Carolina, but now lives in the St. Louis area with his wife Cindy and his son Jackson. His noir/horror comic (and first collaboration with Brian Hurtt), The Damned, was published in 2007 by Oni Press. The follow-up, The Damned: Prodigal Sons, was released in 2008. In addition to The Sixth Gun, his current projects include Crooked Hills, a middle reader horror prose series from Evileye Books; The Tooth, an original graphic novel from Oni Press; and various work for Marvel and DC. Somewhere along the way, Cullen founded Undaunted Press and edited the critically acclaimed small press horror magazine, Whispers from the Shattered Forum.

All writers must pay their dues, and Cullen has worked various odd jobs, including Alien Autopsy Specialist, Rodeo Clown, Professional Wrestler Manager, and Sasquatch Wrangler.

And, yes, he has fought for his life against mountain lions and he did perform on stage as the World's Youngest Hypnotist. Buy him a drink sometime, and he'll tell you all about it.

3 of 3 people found the following review helpful By Israel Drazin TOP 1000 REVIEWERVINE VOICE on May 26, 2014
Format: Hardcover
This graphic novel is part of a series of books involving the intrepid duo, private eye Storm and CIA operative Strike, names that depict their aggressive behavior. As with most graphic novels the drawings of the male hero shows him to be quite handsome and the drawing of most women depict them as voluptuous. Readers who enjoy graphic novels, especially those involving detection and zombies, will thrive on this book.
It tells how Derrick Storm is hired to find out who killed a young girl and why it was done. This was the fourth murder of its kind. The police are baffled. There is only a single clue, an enigmatic symbol drawn in blood. Storm beckons Strike to come help him, and although the mission is not sanctioned by the CIA, she arrives with a suitcase of weapons. The pair soon find themselves facing vampires, some good ones and some bad.

I can see why the Derek Storm novels were popular in book form. The graphic novels are fun, quick to read, and still manage to put across some specific Castle style personality elements.

Print is too small, otherwise I like the book! (I knew before I ordered it that it was a graphic novel)
