5.0 out of 5 stars Buy "Castles in the Sky"!
Ian Van Dahl has a smash-hit dance track here! If you don't have this yet, then what the heck are you waiting for? It just doesn't get any better than this. This single is well worth whatever it may cost you. The "Peter Luts Remix" is the standout that lasts over 7 minutes. Trax 4&5 are instrumental, and would be cool to add some lyrics over. The "De...

Ian Van Dahl has a smash-hit dance track here! If you don't have this yet, then what the heck are you waiting for? It just doesn't get any better than this. The "De Donatis Remix"(Track 6)includes cool robotic-vocoder vocals along with Marsha's echoed vocals, and also runs over 7 minutes. Truly awesome! Marsha sounds like she came from a Castle in the Sky because her voice is heavenly. Last, but not least is the "Wippenberg Remix" that sounds like ATC's "Around The World". Also, if you are from my area check-out DJ Acid's CD "Phiya" which features the "D-Eternal Remix"(which is also outstanding) of this song. If you liked my review, then don't forget to vote. THANKS!

4.0 out of 5 stars Its so beautiful!, July 19, 2002
This review is from: Castles in the Sky (Audio CD)
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. Marsha's voice is so... beautiful. And can this single pack 7 mixes!

Track 01: Castles in the Sky (Radio Edit) (3:45)- This is the version heard on the radio, very beautiful! I first heard this when the DJ on my radio station was doing a 1 man rave. Very good!

Track 02: Castles in the Sky (Extended Mix) (6:42)- This version is the radio edit, but extended with an intro and outro for easy mixing. Still beautiful and has the same effect as the radio edit.

Track 03: Castles in the Sky (Peter Luts Remix) (7:15)- This mix is a bit faster than the original, and a bit harder too. Unlike the original, Peter Luts adds his bass but keeps the original tune and vocals. Around here, this is what most DJs play, and it is easily seen why, good and the piano makes me cry...it's just so beautiful!

Track 04: Castles in the Sky (Perfect Sphere Remix) (8:20)- This is the longest mix on the CD and not really worth listening. It has the main melody of the original, but not as powerful, since it's an instrumental. Good remix, but the most important part of a mix is the vocals, if it has any...

Track 05: Castles in the Sky (Absolom Remix) (6:42)- A remix with a hard beat to it. Again, no vocals... so it won't make mainstream. This is, in my opinion the worst mix on the song, it just hurts your ears. Skip it!

Track 06: Castles in the Sky (De Donatis Remix) (7:05)- This is the best remix off the CD, besides the originals. The mix has the original melody along with Marsha's voice in vocode in the beginning. The mix is pretty long, but the mix is so full of energy, you'll think it's just a few seconds! (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating) Th is one is also a tear-jerker; but danceable. Why not dance while you cry...

Track 07: Castles in the Sky (Wippenberg Remix) (5:47)- This remix is just in your face. Fast and furious, so of course: danceable. The music kinda slows down when the vocals comes in, which is a good thing, unless you can keep on dancing. The bad point of this remix: Little vocals, Marsha just sings the one verse and the last 2 mintues are just vocals; which is typical of regular remixes, but let me remind you... it's only 5 minutes, only 1 minute there's vocals.
"Castles in the Sky" is a great club anthem with perfect vocals and lyrics to match. What more can you ask for! I bet we'll be hearing more of this group... Ian van Dahl. (I bet little knew that Ian van Dahl was a group!) ;)

5.0 out of 5 stars Dreams in the sky, May 16, 2001

This is a very good trance tune with all the necessary hooks. Upbeat, fast pace, few mysterious and immaculate vocal lines. If you liked say Sandstorm by Darude, Insomnia by Faitless or Encore Une Fois by Sash! you'll like this also. In the moments you need energy, put this tune in, volume up and forget everything.... you'll be lifted in the sky with all those castles around....

European DJ's test and develope their tunes in front of passionate raving audiences and they can really sense what the people likes, what is currently "in". Take their knowledge and competence into studio, make a commercial production and you have a single like Castles in the Sky playing in the air.

"Oh tell me why, do we build castles in the sky?"

"Castles In The Sky" is my favorite song of all time. This song pulls you in with it's great techno/trance beats, then won't let you go with her beautiful voice. The remixes on this CD are ok, but the original is by far the best. I own Ian Van Dahl's album "Ace," and it is no disapointment. The only dance song that comes close to comparison with this is "I See Right Through To You" by DJ Encore and Engelina. Other songs I recomend are "Rapture" by Iio, "Forever" by Dee Dee, "Sandstorm" by Darude, and "Touch Me" by Rui Da Silva. These are all REALLY good songs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Peter Luts radio edit, September 5, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Castles in the Sky (Audio CD)
The Peter Luts radio edit is the video and worldwide hit version of this song, not the normal radio edit that is found on the US version of the CD-SINGLE of Castles In The Sky. The US is radio stations are playing the wrong version of the song. The US CD-Single just have the extended mix. That is why this song has not done too well at Top 40 in the US, yet! This song will take off if the USA Top 40 radio stations stop playing the US radio edit. You can see the Video of this very cool song....

5.0 out of 5 stars Castles in the Sky is Awesome!, March 22, 2003

...I immediatly fell in love with the fast beat and beautiful vocals. The rhythm of the fast techno sound went well with the characters moving along the screen. Once the vocals were sung, Seto Kiaba's adorable face had so much emotion when he was fighting with Pegasus. The music video is awesome and also the song is too. I immediatly had to get it... Awesome beats and Incredible vocals and lyrics. Ian Van Dahl ROCKS!

5.0 out of 5 stars A truly gorgeous dance track, March 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Castles in the Sky (Audio CD)
This tune is another tearjerker. Amazing synth work and vocals, and the remixes create great suspense for the drop. What more can I say? This tune owns, and I would encourage all lovers of uplifting trance type music to pick it up. The CD Single is nice because it contains the full length versions, whereas if you were to get this on a compilation, it would no doubt be edited. Like Tiesto's famous remix of Delerium, this is a tune that deserves to be heard from start to finish. Yeah!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Techno CD since Somethings, Heaven, and Discovery, May 31, 2004
This review is from: Castles in the Sky (Audio CD)
Well, I was listening to my techno hame radio station. I heard DJ Tony B announcing that there was a new song by Ian Van Dahl and some girl named Marsha. I listened to the song. I LOVED IT!! If you absolutly love techno/dance, you'd like this CD a whole LOT. My favorite tracks were numbers 1,2,4,and 6. If you are a fan of Lasgo, DJ Encore, DJ Sammy, or Louie DeVito, you'll like these songs....
